If you're observant, you can spot great copy ideas everywhere. Here's one I 'stumbled' across today.

"60 Year Old American Woman Gives Birth to Grandson"

True story and it's NOT from the National Enquirer. Seriously!

Yes, it's good to have some place where you keep all the ideas. I like to keep song titles and phrases from lyrics and advertising taglines (mostly old ones, the newer ones tend to suck IMO) for ideas. Especially, because they can help you connect with your market (as long as you're using things the audience would know!)

In case anyone was wondering, the grandmother headline was inspired by an episode of Oprah where a woman was the surrogate for her daughter's son because the daughter had difficulty conceiving.

I especially love magazines because they test and improve on their copy constantly, and if it fails they lose tens of thousands of dollars.

Theres a great article here: Update: Men's Health Stopped Writing New Cover Lines Years Ago on how Men's health constantly monitors and test tests all their headlines and repeats the winners every now and again to make even more profits.

The easiest way to get good headlines for your niche is walk to your local news agent and write down the headlines on all the magazines in that niche. Most of the time they'll be tested and proven winners.
