    Do guest posting

Hire a VA to find related blogs in your niche and filter them based on Domain Authority and probable existing traffic volume

Next, network with the people behind the blog on social media... prove to them (through your engagement) that you know what you're talking about

Eventually, you'll get invites for blog carnivals/roundups/and interviews.

Take it from there to get guest posts going.

A good VA will cost you no more than $25 for a day's worth of work. Cheap way to get going!

If you are on a tight budget, here's three things you can do for free to generate traffic to your blog right now:
    1. Blog commenting: find top blogs in your niche and leave your comment (normally the profile will allow a link to your website). Don't just spam it, leave helpful advice and construct on the blog post itself;
    2. Guest posting: already mentioned above how to do it
    3. Forum posting: find top forums in your niche and contribute to those forum. Make sure they allow signatures

    It's a little bit time-consuming but hey, it's free!

If you have some cash around:
    1. Facebook Ads if the way to go
    2. Pay for some banners in related niche forums

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

    Cheers

        Not to sound rude but,

Have you gotten this far by getting everyone to do everything for you?

Best two words with anything (especially IM)

        TAKE ACTION

        Search the forums
        Search google

Search blogs in your niche, if you have a dog breeding blog, speak to other dog breeding bloggers, google it (the same way you'd expect someone to find your blog.)

Comment on youtube videos in the same niche, join facebook groups and talk there.

(And also remember to say please and thank you.)

You can use your own Facebook profile to get traffic for free if you're in the IM niche and have a lot of IM FB friends.

It works best with good content (as do most things!). If you post spammy stuff, nobody will engage with your post, so FB will stop showing it to anyone (due to their Edgerank algorithm).

So create some good interesting content on your blog / website and then post a new status update telling your friends about it. (From here you can link to your product, squeeze page or whatever, as long as there is good content as well).

Add a relevant image to the post, because images get the best engagement. Don't add your link here though, because FB will reduce your Edgerank.

Instead, at the end of your post, write that the link will be in the first comment. Then add the link to the first comment (obviously! Lol!)

Easiest way to get traffic for a beginner is to go through social media. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit and so on.

My personal favorite site is Reddit and I almost use it for every website I have. It's not easy to use though and if you use it without knowing how to cater to the audience of Reddit, you will probably do more harm than good.

But that doesn't mean it's bad, plenty of people and companies have used Reddit with great success (including me). If you know what to do, getting a post to the front page is not that hard and can result in an insane amount of traffic. Best part about it, any social media for that matter, is that it's all free.

Otherwise you could always try posting in Facebook groups, I've heard that spamming groups actually work better than you think, so it might be worth a try.

Traffic is easy no matter what kind of site you own. I would recommend paid advertising first just to see if the niche you're in is responsive to even a "free" offer. Then I would start promoting. Start off with PPC. Google Adwords and Bing Ads should give you a definitive answer quickly.
