Announced Today:

John Locke Becomes the First Independently Published Author to Join the Kindle Million Club
"As of June 19th, John Locke has sold 1,010,370 Kindle books using Kindle..."

"The Kindle Million Club recognizes authors whose books have sold over 1 million paid copies in the Kindle Store."

"Kindle Direct Publishing has provided an opportunity for independent authors to compete on a level playing field with the giants of the book selling industry," said John Locke.

Amazon Now Selling More Kindle Books Than Print Books

Amazon began selling hardcover and paperback books in July 1995. Twelve years later in November 2007, Amazon introduced the revolutionary Kindle and began selling Kindle books. By July 2010, Kindle book sales had surpassed hardcover book sales, and six months later, Kindle books overtook paperback books to become the most popular format on Amazon.com. Today, less than four years after introducing Kindle books, Amazon.com customers are now purchasing more Kindle books than all print books - hardcover and paperback - combined.

    This happened a while ago. Not sure why they just announced it.

    Regardless, it's just a shift in the business, much like what happened to vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs. Same stuff, just consumed differently.

      this is just the trend these days...

      look at all the news papers and magazines putting their issues online now.

      media is going 100 percent digital, its cheaper, and easier.

      I think the key here is ALL...

      all print books - hardcover and paperback - combined.
      Until today it was just paperback.

      That's amazing. I wonder if many people who own a Kindle load them up with books that they haven't read? Having unread physical books in plain view get more notice, which might help to prevent from ordering more, wheres with a Kindle I can see it being easier to spend more.

          So do I.

          This is great news, especially if you are an ebook writer/publisher.

          I prefer kindle books, why wait for the book to go through the mail, when you can get it instantly.
