Best Freelancing Websites

I am a professional writer and internet marketer. Apart from all the stuff I have done online, writing is still my main passion. What is the best freelancing website for both contractors and people looking to empl? So far I have used the following:

1. Freelancer - Pays peanuts and has so many conmen
2. Elance - Pays well but hard to get a job
3. iWriter - Best site for a for writers
4. GlobeSkill.com - This is a new site that's coming up. Seems like it will be a great place to hire some freelancers if you are doing internet marketing.
5. vWorker - Not done much there but seems promising also.

Feel free to add to the list

Indeed. In fact its the best place

You can earn a substantial income without much "hunting", if you're good at what you do. Plus the word-of-mouth on WF spreads faster than the Australian wildfire!

I might add some value in the thread as well, no site or marketplace is bad. There are good clients and bad clients in those market places, you'll have to pick the better clients. For newbies it's a bit difficult getting better clients but when you have some reputation under your profile and you're good at what you're doing then it's not that bad.

My personal experience with these market places is not bad and not so good. I had clients that tried to pay me peanuts and there are better clients that look for quality and pays better than the others. I have got clients that pays a lot better than most of the clients at these market places. My piece of advice will be, be choosy when you're bidding. Clients have reputation as well and it's only rational if you do a background check before bidding.

You'll find clients that never pays and asks for customized samples, don't do that for free. Most of the cases these buyers don't hire you and don't pay you at all. In my early days as a freelancer I had clients that don't want to pay more, but eventually I started to sort clients by their reputation and things got better, gradually.

For newbies, I know how hard it is when you're starting and I was in your shoes as well so I had to come up with better options and plans to gain the trust of these better clients. I can help the newbies, so if anyone is struggling in these marketplaces then PM me and I will try to help you.

Just trying to give it back what this wonderful community of Warriors gave me when I was a newbie myself. Oh..crap I'm still a newbie.....!

I think it depends on the type of work you need. I have mostly used oDesk for WordPress site building and Fiverr for link building. Both have worked well for me, but there's no doubt this process is trial and error. It took me a while a find good contractors in both sites, but once you find someone that does the job well for the right price, then you're set.

If you want to sell your writing services, why don't you just start up a blog and rank it. People will then just pay you for your reviews....

Among your list I would rate iwriter as the best as of now. Its owner Brad Callen is a very honest person. I have written more than 1000 articles there and I am very satisfied with the way the site functions. Brad has proved what a hard working person he is! I congratulate him for all the support he gives to writers there.

    Hi
I dont have much experience with most of the other sites, i have only used Freelancer but i had to leave it because It is hard enough to bid for a job but also harder to get the payment because you will meet with so many Sacs!!!!!!
But i hear that Elance is really good.
But in Freelancing , I think it is better to be on the hiring side than the hired side because most of them pay very little in comparison to the amount and quality of work required. Believe me, i know I am a writer and getting paid well for writing is hard enough!!!!!
    Good Luck

I have had tremendous success with elance, and hired all my team members by given them small tests first.

That is how you win the outsourcing game.

I'd say Warrior For Hire, Fiverr, and Digital Point Forum's marketplace.

I'd say Elance and oDesk win out of the bidding sites.

As for content writing websites, I personally like WriterAccess, MediaPiston and Textbroker.

    To each his own though.

Has anyone tried out Shelancers? It's a freelancer site for women, and it's run (or co-run?) by Nicole Dean, who is a highly respected internet marketer and PLR provider.

There's a free level and a couple of paid levels with additional perks and visibility.

Odesk.com is the best right now.
Frelancer.com might be good (i never tried it fully) but they spam as hell and there is no way to easily stop spamming or delete your account. I kept getting emails from them even after unchecked all and every subscription checkbox... It's like they wanna force you get their shit everyday.
I had a great time, great clients and easy to manage with Odesk.

I once used oDesk to recruit writers, and think the fixed rate based on time sheet is unfair for employers, and there are honest workers just charge you based on time and can't deliver what you need.

I think Guru is the best freelancing website. It is one of the largest sites for freelancers including programmers, content writers and web designers. Once project is done, payment is released to freelancers. Its payment is absolutely safe.

oDesk is good, though the rates tend to be little low for writers so you must really search thoroughly for a good paying rate. Other than that, it's got good credibility and clean interface.

You can also offer your services on other Internet marketing forums like Digital Point and especially Affilorama (where its marketing course emphasize a lot of quality content, so it's one a great place to advertise your writing service).

I've gotten web design clients through Elance before. It's not bad, but clients have a bad habit of "leaving out" details then expecting you to do everything for the price you quoted them in the beginning, which would drastically reduce your earnings per hour.

On the plus side, Odesk actually comes with benefits (i.e., health care etc.) if I haven't seriously misunderstood something on their site... That could make up for the low pay in some cases, as long as you also have some better paying clients...

I love odesk. It has a professional interface and there are loads of jobs there but you need to have a sound resume and testimonials in order snag some offers.
And I love the good old fiverr But it sucks that it takes 1$ out of 5$ . That's 20% of the money you earn. While odesk takes 10% and pays through direct deposit, so money-wise I love odesk.
