Backlinks? Which are the best? Which are the right ones?

This might be a very noob question, but what are the best backlinks, or are all of them the same? I want to outsource but I am overwhelmed by how many different types of backlinks there are. Also which are the right backlinks? or is there no such thing as the right backlinks? Lets say for a youtube video, which would be the best for it? I would really appreciate the help.

    If you are outsourcing your back links then you will want to make sure whoever you hire is manually building these back links. Not all back links are created equal and are not all the same. You want links from pages that are relevant to your content and hopefully dofollow links. Anyone that tells you they'll give you thousands of back links is probably something you want to stay away from.

        That is supposed to mean the page rank of each page that would be linking to you. I would not worry too much on that at this point as I believe that is outdated. If you do, you should research how many backlinks are going to that page and from where. That may help you make a more informed decision.

        pr1 pr2 pr3 pr4 pr5 ect... means page rank. The better the page rank the better the backlink.
        Me personally I like the dofollow backlinks but make sure you do it manually it
        will look more natural with Google standards

      Alright, but lets compare blog commenting to social bookmarks, is one better than the other? or will they give me the same results rankings wise?

        Well, blog commenting will get you no follow back links. Last time I checked, there are still some social bookmarking sites that do follow links. Although, I do not use these methods much, so I'm not up to date on them.

        I personally would choose social bookmarking back links over blog commenting back links. Opinions and experiences may vary.

          Press Releases are the best ones... They are syndicated so they grow in numbers over time and Google will never penalize them if you go through the bigger sites.

    Blog commenting is a natural way to build links. Get it from relevant niches and manually. It does not matter if it is not dofollow. You need a mix of links. As for PR, if your site is new, go for lower PRs. You need to stay up in the ranks, not have peaks and valleys. If you get PR 9, where are you going next. As for press release, once a month is a good start.

    If we're talking about a YouTube video, then perhaps backlinks are not the best card to play in this case. YouTube video ranking factors are different from webpage ranking factors Video-Seo: youTube Ranking Factors (infographic)
    Just think what people normally do when a video is really great.
    - they watch it through
    - they share in on Facebook, bookmark it , post it to their Tumblr page
    - they may mention it in a blog comment, but less likely
    - they give it thumbs-ups
    - they comment on it
    - they follow the channel
    - they add it to favorites
    - etc.
    Plus, you should optimize the title, the video file name, the tags, and the description for the keywords you are targeting. Choosing an appropriate category is important as well.
