Just wondering if anyone experiencing this? One of my competitors just drop about 10 positions today. I am surprise to see this because it is old and authoritative website with no PBN links.

What do you mean by white hat? If you are posting links to your site, then that is not white hat. Google does not think of that as proper. You are supposed to wait for others to link to you naturally, otherwise you are using methods that Google does not approve of.

Yes I'm seeing a downward trend with my affiliate sites at the moment, however there were quite a few changes in the last weeks:

      1) I had a portion of domains deindex, though mostly weak domains my affiliate sites received quite a few links from exactly these sites so that could be a reason for the drop

      2) I replaced the homepage with a lengthy 2000 word article, however I heavily monetized that page with 15 affiliate links so maybe that has to do with it?

      3) I just started a new batch of link building for the whole set of sites so maybe it's just dancing of keywords before they move up again, a trend that I see quite often.

Normally these Amazon sites of mine are a perfect indication of Google updates and such as they're always very stable but too much happened in the past weeks.

Overall I do see a bit of a downward trend though most of my clients aren't affiliate ones, and it could have to do with the loss of some domains so still hard to say what's going on.

After all the rank drop threads over the years you would think everything was deindexed by now.

I think this kind of inquiry is counterproductive, to be honest. Even if there is a major update, there could be 10 reasons why your competitor dropped and you didn't.

True, true, sorry. I just mean that it's impossible to know why they dropped unless you have access to their data. Could be anything.

I guess everyone in the whole SEO industry are too stupid to discover patterns in how Google ranks websites. Huh?

If you have a ton of sites in your network and this bunch go down in ranking and this bunch goes up or stays the same you can kinda back engineer it.

Just because you can't comprehend SEO doesn't mean the pro's in the SEO field can't. There are companies making millions of dollars in the industry.

If they couldn't back engineer Google they'd be out of business.

Something is definitely going on. The PBN cleanup might have been the signal for the expected next Penguin update. In the recent past big G has been dealing in double blows with simultaneous Penguin and Panda updates.

I track quite a number of sites and don't see anything highly unusual. Maybe they are just testing a small part of the search results with the new penguin update?

      Aint that the truth. Nothink.

Of course you know somewhere in a parallel forum, someone is asking if other sites
      are moving up.

Nobody at the WF posts much about a massive move up. That means only 50% of the
webmasters must post here, because the other 50% saw a rise in rankings.

In addition to what I posted earlier in this thread about a set of 9 Amazon sites where I build a new batch of links, the homepages that I replaced with heavily monetized ones and a few deindexations of domains I took the 2 domains out of 9 that were affected much worse then the rest a bit closer under the loop:

      - Domain 1: Nothing to see there, bit stunned why it lost a lot of traffic as it's setup in an identical way as the 8 other ones

      - Domain 2: Which really had some huge drops, turns out to be a victim of a negative SEO campaign, all of a sudden 50 percent of links have the main keyword anchor text and in total it now has 5000+ links from about 350 referring domains opposed to links from about 50 domains that I placed myself.

Part of the game I guess.

        Hey Niko-

Use this affiliate link cloaker. It will completely mask your Aff links from Google. I installed it on a previously penalized Aff site and the traffic came back. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ed-google.html

Also, based on my sites, article length doesn't matter so much. Within your article try asking questions and answering them. Then have links within the article going to subpages on your site. The whole silo thing. That lowers your bounce rate and increases time on site.

I see at least one footprint in the HTML source code:
          • wp-content/plugins/elf-links/js/script.js?ver=3.9.2

BTW, all that plugin is doing is using javascript/ajax code for the links which can be found for free by searching Google.

Totally forgot about cloaking these links indeed.

Right now the homepage is so heavily monetized that all traffic go's straight away to Amazon so Google has no clue finding out how long visitors stay on my site so not sure how that matters here.

What's the plan now, create 10,000 word crappy reviews?

Trust me, counting words isn't the problem. I don't even need to see your site/pages to know it's not the problem.

Lol then what you think the problem is? Bounce rate? Really isn't as bad as you think.

The reason I mentioned crappy 300-500 word reviews is cause it's just a lap of text, no fancy layout, additional images, lists of features/specifications, sub headings, video's or anything that can spice up a page / make it more attractive to the visitors so that's on my to do list next time and thus the word count will likely increase.

The content itself on this batch of sites is pretty decent and informative though, wait got to come back on that, second part of the article is all fluff talk about the company producing it, close to zero relevancy really.
