is SEARCH breaking again?

All searches seems to end at Sept 28 - in the past when this happened it was only a matter of time before the entire search function went down.

Still broken. Search is basically useless making the site even more of a PITA to navigate and find things. I can only imagine the amount of people who just leave the site because they can't search for anything...

It is completely useless at this point. Don't hold out much hope for it being fixed.

It looks like the search is working properly again from what I can tell.

Nope, search is not going back near far enough. Your "find all posts by user" is only going back to June 24, 2013 and mine is only going back to August 31, 2014.

It's still messed up and Alaister says he has his team working on it.

      Cheers

Ahh, fair enough. It's working to the extent of using the search box for a term appears to be working. I guess only half broken now..

It's funny, the only ones complaining about search is all the old farts.

I don't think that vast majority of visitors/users even bother with search on the forum. hehe

Then how to do you find things?

It's still fubar. Dates are random.
And there's a huge hole for months worth of posts (they need to take it offline for a bit, and run a manual index of the threads).

      Better, but still broken.

Thanks for letting us know what's happening when you use the search function and sorry about the continued trouble. We definitely want to get this fixed asap. If you can PM me a screenshot and the steps to reproduce that would be great, and then I can show this to our engineers to see what's going on.

I've been reporting (and updating the status of) this issue on a half-dozen threads for several months (going back 6 months, actually). This includes threads that Alaister has participated on, and it includes correspondence with Alaister by PM just a week or so ago.

He keeps declaring search is fixed, and I (and others) keep telling him it's not the case. He knows it's not fixed and I have sent him the exact details previously

The gap is two years! Posts show for the past 2 months and they are missing for the prior 2 years. It's that way for many users....the posts only go back a couple of months...

          Cheers

We know and have already taken note of the issues you have sent us. I was asking about the issues kpmedia is having.

          Glad to help.

You can't add attachments to PMs here, so I've attached them to this post. (FYI: There is a vB mod for adding attachments to PMs. I use it on one site, though I did modify it some.)

Look at the dates. They're out of order. The further back you go, the worse it gets. It's off by weeks eventually. You need to take the forum offline for a few hours, and re-run the various default updates/queries that are included in vB. Be sure that section is unlocked in the config file so you can access it in the admincp. Also take a backup first, just in case. It's rare, but I've seen the counter/etc updates screw things up. (Remember to then re-block the queries/etc in the config.)

Getting the site 100% functional again would be nice. I can follow certain people and topics again.

EDIT: Well, there's another error, it seems. I cannot see my own attachments. It asks me to login ad infinitum.

          .

Thanks a lot for the time taken to send these. I've forwarded to our engineers to investigate and as soon as have an update will post here again.
