Lead Page or Landing Page

I hope I have this under the correct thread. I am trying to create a landing or lead page to get leads on a business I am trying to start. I am working with someone now on this but he is gone for the week due to a family issue so I thought I would ask here. By his page looks like he is using leadpages.net to create his landing or lead page. Do you have to have a web hosting site to use that? Or does LeadPages.net run the lead for you? Just wondering if I need to sign up for a Web Hosting site. Trying to figure the steps I need to take to get everything up and running. I also would like to create an automatic email that has everything I want to send them. I think he is using Aweber.
