  • That's very clever.

I'll check back to see how you go.

On a sort of related tip...

This post reminded me of a pub that I used to frequent in my old city.

The owners had glued coins and notes all over the place and it was always good lullz to watch people dig em out.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I look forward to all your threads. Thanks.
  • Great stuff man- if it's working, keep it up!
  • Hi Martin, great idea, I would like to try, where do you get the drop cards printed, online or local?

    Thanks,
    • [1] reply
    • I get my drop cards printed online at www.gotprint.com i paid like $32 for 2,500 cards including shipping, i don't think you will find a better deal online then that.

      I hope this helps,

      Martin

  • Martin you always have great ideas. You rock man I will try it myself.

    Thanks for sharing.
  • Truely out of the box
  • How about doing the same thing with a payday loan offer, or something with a higher payout, Tweak it just a bit
Maybe do the same thing at colleges with a scholarship or student loan or grant offer
  • Going about various places dropping 2500 cards is a lot of work on a lot of days. On the other hand if you outsource there is no way of knowing whether the cards have been distributed/ dropped, other than a photo or two by the outsourcer.

The idea is good but the problem for most lies in execution. Good post.

  • Ya the conversion ratio is great though, its just that with how long it takes to distribute them, 14 bucks is not worth it. Thats why I said go for higher paying offer
  • Very clever idea. I was wondering if you've ever tried this with a different offer?
  • car loan zip offers could work

I might have to test this, lol.

OP, keep us updated on the conversion rate when you drop all 2,500 cards.

    Thanks,

should add a few things and do a wso. i just dropped everything and doing solid ppc with the very tough payday loans.......doing good.

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Wow...great innovation. Brilliant.
Thanks for the card source also.
  • Cool idea to make money for U.S. publishers.
  • The card design is brilliant. One thing you may want to be careful of is the whole "WIN" thing. Unless it's actually an offer that uses those words, you might get in trouble with your CPA network. Good luck though, and def keep us posted!
  • martin its a new idea , i try make money with this idea
  • Great Idea, I will be testing this method in the upcoming weeks, but with sms text message sign-ups to build a local list and then promote cpa offers and other local benefits.
  • WoW! that's a nice tweak for the drop card technique! CoOool!
  • Ok this is the 11th day

Exactly how much money did you make so far?
  • This reminds me back in the early 2000's when website owners were writing their domain names on real money as the money was constantly circulated.
  • Cool I really want to try this thanks for the great idea!!!
  • Very clever idea man for offline CPA marketing. I do have plans to do some offline CPA marketing, you just gave me another good idea. Take note guys, offline CPA is still a very potential way to make big bucks aside from online methods.

    • I just wanted to share an update on this idea, as I forgot all about this post and to be honset this idea did go as planed.

In a nutshell I did get all 5,000 of my cpa drop card out to the public and did earn around $500 with it, but would have earned a hell of alot more, but the cpa network I was involved with shut my link down as they say I violated the rules, even with the fact I got permission to use my drop card from them, but I'm not going to go on about that, I just wanted to let everyone know the idea does work, but there are still some risks and that if you are going to use drop cards in your local area double check and get proof you have permission to use them, so you don't end up like I did.

      All the best,

      Martin

  • Thank you for sharing.
  • Great Idea, I will be testing this method... thanks
  • Great idea Martin. Would definitely be giving this a try. Thanks
  • How did the network find out you used drop cards?
    • [1] reply
    • In a nutshell I had already told the network I was using drop cards and was told it was fine, but after like 2 weeks I got an email telling me the advertiser of the offer requested for me to stop promoting thier offer in my area and the network blacklisted me from promoting the ipad email submit offer.

      All the best,

      Martin

  • Thanks for the great idea and updates.
  • that's a very interesting way of marketing... don't get caught by the police for littering
    • [1] reply
    • Thanks, while reading this thread I tried to figure out what drop cards are. Never heard about them.

From your remark I guess they indeed get dropped, like on the footpath or so?

I guess I would incur a huge cleaning bill for doing that around here.
  • LOL ... epic post. Loving it, best offline marketing strategy I seen in a long time.

Here's what I think you could improve on though: The offer! $1.40 a pop isn't going to cover your expenses as you can't scale. Use your same angle, but concentrate on pay-per-lead offers that pay at least $20-30 bucks (i.e. insurance quotes, loan apps, etc).

I think you could scale that WAY up this way ... very smart way of grabbing attention. Also, might want to consider where you drop them off (letterbox, pidgeon hole, street, etc.)

    But great idea, love it!

    Nick
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [2] replies
    • He said the $14 came from about 100 dropcards and it costs $32 for 2,500 cards so isn't that about $1.28 for 100 cards which makes the net profit about $12.72.

Unless i've missed something, how is that not covering the expenses?

Per per lead sounds an interesting idea, but as the traffic won't be targeted it might be tough even to get 1 conversion from 100 cards.
    • [DELETED]
    • That makes sense. The profit margin was looking a bit thin before. The idea has merit
  • WoW thats a great idea.
    • [2] replies
    • haha i have to say that is -very- clever, something new affs never think about, offline marketing. As mentioned in another reply though, is it really worth the time dropping that many cards, once you take expenses into perspective vs return?
    • Hi Everyone,

A few people over the past week have emailed me and asked If I would be willing to sell the templates, images, etc. I used to create my money drop card, so I have decided if anyone would like to purchase them for $10 just PayPal $10 to me at: nichebizideas@yahoo.com or if you have any questions you can email me at the same email or PM here and I will get back to your asap.

  • Here's an idea, not sure how legal it is though:

Get in some big apartment buildings with a ton of units / floor. Tape one of these suckers on every door. Like a ninja. Would this be a nice way to distribute? Just an idea!
    • [1] reply
    • Jon,

Your idea could work, but if a manager of the apartment buildings see you distributing cards or flyers they will ask you to leave in most cases.

What I do for big apartment buildings is I find out who the person is that delivers newspapers there and I work out a deal with them to distribute my flyers with the newspapers and this way I don't have to do the leg work myself.

      Just an idea to consider.

      All the best,

      Martin

Yes, you can have 2 offers on one drop card, I have had success with offering a Clickbank product on one side and a CPA offer on the other side, so by all means use the space on your drop card as best as you can to promote.

    • Here are some of the ways I'm having my drop cards distributed and I do have an advantage as being in the offline advertisng business I have conections and friends that own businesses and who are willing to help me.

The first way I get my drop cards distributed is from my friend who owns a corner store/meat deli and he let me staple my drop card to all of his meat packages store flyer and he places them in his customers bag.

Another ways i get my drop cards distributed is the chinese take-out place I eat at every other day, let me place a business card holder display by the register.

I also have a friend who owns a barber shop and he gives one of my drop cards to each of his clients.

Another way is my best friend Ed who owns a computer repair store also let me place a business card holder display on his counter.

Now I also place a few of my drop cards on all the bulletin boards I go by everyday when I'm out and about handling business and I drop a card or two on all the resting benches I go by.

I'm also talking with a friend of mine who teaches at a local college and I'm trying to work out a deal with him to leave my drop cards in hot spots or high traffic areas of the college.

I'm not an exspert at CPA marketing I'm still learning and trying to find out what works and what dosn't, but wanted to share what I was doing and thought it might interest others.

I hope this answers your question and helps.

  • Sound's like you have quite a distribution method, about how long does 2,500 cards last you?
    • [1] reply
    • If I outsource the distribution of my drop cards I can get 2,000 - 5,000 drop cards out to the public in a day or two, now if I do it myself it takes me at least a week.

  • Not going to lie, I tremendously respect people doing manual bum methods like drop cards. It shows they are willing to roll up their sleeves and work their tales off to learn this business. I'm not saying drop cards are one of the best methods out there, I'm just saying the people who are willing to do methods like this are the ones who are more serious about doing whatever it takes to succeed...and I respect that.

    That's exactly how I started!

  • Ive thought about getting little cards printed that have a folded up bill printed on them or something and just "leaving them places".. Sure to get some attention, but I don't have any projects this would really benefit. Has anyone tried something like that?
  • Nice idea, I just to use a method dropping flyers with iPad offers and similar in lectures halls inbetween lectures when it was empty and that method was very successful, so many students have laptops or iphones with them at all times, a lot picked them up and went online straight away, but this didn't really have the imagination of this.

I know of a company near me that buys golds, I once picked up a 2 pence coin, and it was labelled on the opposite site '£70...this would be worth if it was gold' and their web address, made me but was a very innovative idea at the time
  • I don't think he'll be fined for littering, cause someone will definitely pick the card up upon seeing "money", and if that person chooses to drop the card upon opening it, then the littering offense would go to that person wouldn't it :p

Idea is great have to give it that. Can be used to market a whole lot of other stuff, but needs some work on further research to find out good locations for dropping and also to get more targeted "pickers"
  • Nice one, i should try this.

  • Really great stuff there, thanks alot for the info!
  • This is cheer genius.
Thanks for putting a smile on my face and thanks for sharing this epic tactic.
  • This is a really really great idea. But like what others are saying the offers payout is too little.
How about a loan/refurnish your home/insurance/make money from home offers promote them in mailbox?
    1) deign a mailer and put it in an envelope
    2) similar drop cards
    3) pamphlets
I think this will have a better impact as people will actually check their mailbox for letters and stuff while going up the lift they have the time to actually read and think about the offer.
On top of that they can go directly to their computer the moment they reach home. SO yeah i guess this might work. I might give this a try. But still looking forward to more input from you guys

  • Lol, this is classic definition of Ninja marketing, right?

It shouldn't have been too much of an issue when your CPA account (or offer) got cancelled; just quickly find another one to promote and redirect your URL to that offer. Problem solved.

Also, there are tons of gigs like this on Fiverr for anyone who wants to ramp it up, but I'm always concerned about people actually doing the work; what if they rip you off?

I guess, you can set up a private URL for each job and see if they get any results, if they don't oh well, if they do, hire them again.

Also, I would definitely try some higher paying offers, maybe even some "Make Money Online" offers, everyone is broke now adays and I bet people might check it out.

Good luck to you in any event.

PS: Have you ever had any other complaints? Or someone chasing you down the street "HEY YOU DROPPED THIS!"

    • [1] reply

    • Just ask your affiliate managers. There should be no reason why you can't market Cost Per Sale offers offline.
  • I need to find an offer for Canada and do this around here. I know. Set a few out in public restrooms in malls and and in coffee shops, like Tim Hortons and Starbucks and a few local coffee hangouts.
  • Very innovative with the right CPA offers, nice idea. I wonder how to find a cpa network that won't spank this type of marketing.

  • Wow Martin, this is a genius idea!
  • Hi Martin....thanks for the info.

Question: What CPA services do you find to be the best?
    • [2] replies
  • Martin,
Sorry to hear that your idea didn't work for your CPA campaign (there are many CPA networks around) but it is ingenius for many types of direct mail type campaigns. Some of the networks such as NeverBlue.com have a disclaimer in the fine print on their homepages that offline advertising is prohibited.

I have switched from promoting CPA offer to promoting affiliate products

  • Great idea but thats a lot of litter /waste, just saying haha.
  • This is a fantastic method. I wise i could have use this in my country as well.
  • Wow man that's a cool way to get traffic... Thanks for sharing can't wait to get an update!
  • that's a good idea,thanks for sharing this!
  • Hey guys, i notice a few of you are suggesting different ways of distribution such as mailboxes and flyers etc. I think the conversion rate is so high because the lead picked sopmething up off the floor or bench or wherever, they will look at it, and if they think that they will do it, they will a=take it home and do it. If not, they will most likely throw it on the floor again. 50 50 chance it will land face down meaning the next person is going to pick it up etc.

If they rent interested, they will chuck it back down and someone who is will pick it up and keep it.

Flyers in someones letterbox however, if they don't like it, its going in the bin.

If someone keeps that bit of paper they found in public, they want to take action.
    • [1] reply
  • That's just hilarious! I cracked up. Incidentally, one can do some advertizing on currencies but are there any legal ramifications (fake notes etc?)
  • Just wanted to ask questions, say thanks in particular to some folks and also put out a quick summary for anyone else like me who wants the best ideas gathered in the most recent last page of this thread.

How much would you say we should pay to outsource? I agree a 12 pack and a pizza would cut it but just in case the person wants cash? Thanks in advance.

Sarevok, excellent ideas added to the OP. To both, a big thanks.

The idea of just re-directing to a completely different offer is BRILLIANT to say the least.

Just highlighting this so any one who fast forwards to the last page does not miss this gem.

Just think outside the box guys, there are tons of ways to make money (non 9-5) Its all about "MINDSET"

Kenster, do you mind sharing where you could acquire a good deal on the ticket stock? Do you have any contacts? Thanks.

Thanks for that - I had no idea Peerfly had that rule. I guess it is best to write each one and ask clear permission to conduct a method. Just to be on the safe side.

Also read Neverfly wouldn't allow this.

I will definitely give CB products a try using this methodology.

    Also,

That was excellent advice. Thanks for that.

From what I read (most recent) OP says one side use make money offer and the other side use weight loss offer. Great idea.

Places to leave would be cars outside mall and even door steps (besides obvious choices)

Thanks to Martin for all the great ideas and input. I have definitely picked up some gold nuggets and combed through each post.

    • Hi Warriors,

A few people over the past few days have PM me and asked me how much I pay for my drop cards and where do I get them printed.

Well, I get 1,000 Full Color, 2 Sided business card size drop cards printed and shipped for around $30 from GotPrint.com

      I hope this helps,

      Martin
  • I have used drop cards before for other ventures. They look fantastic in person! However yours are DIRT cheap compared to what I have seen and paid. Usually about $145 for 1,000 cards.

I used dollarcardmarketing.com. The cards were taller than a business card, 4 inches x 3 5/8. This is the height of a real bill, so they looked more like real money and had the correct looking color security thread that is placed in bills. They were also printed on stock that looked and felt very close to the real thing. How do yours look? (can't tell from the photos).

Also, the new $100 bills are out now. I wonder if anyone has those cards yet?

Below is a scan of a real $100 bill and half of the the drop card. Both scanned at actual size. The one on the left is the real deal, the one on the right is the drop card.

And yes, these are 100% legal as they are only 2/3 the side of a real bill. (mising the middle third of a bill).
  • Great stuff! Good ideas! If it's working, keep it up and keep scaling
  • Wow this is A really good method. I am for sure going to try this out.
