So, what is a good CTR for a banner ad ?

I am testing a banner that I had made here, by a Warrior forum member, and one that I have made myself by just utilizing MS Paint.

I have purchased 20,000 Impression on a very popular site.
Cost $20

To begin with I am running my "home made" banner.
It currently has a CTR of 0.66% I am going to allow
10,000 impressions of it, then I am going to upload the "Professionally made" banner.

Update: Now at 377 Impressions CTR of 0.80% with my Home Made banner.

Hard question to answer because it varies by traffic source, ad size, niche, etc.

That being said if I get anything above 0.20 after initial testing Ill be pretty happy. It depends which country you're promoting in but 10k impressions isn't really enough data to make decisions off of.

Ankee, the ad is running in the USA.
      AD is a 300X250
How many impressions does it take to come to an educated decision as to if the creative is good enough ?

The CTR of 1% is quite good. As a general rule a "homemade" banner will perform better than a professional one. You should start changing the banner only after the CTR will start to go down. To judge if it's a good banner you must check the percentage of your goal, how many conversions you have.

Currently at 1.25% CTR (home made)
      1683 Impressions served.
      21 Clicks

I have went ahead and am running it on two sites. The above numbers are for both sites combined.

      Site 1 > 1348 Impressions CTR of 1.11% 15 Clicks
      Site 2 > 339 Impressions CTR of 1.77% 6 Clicks

You need to focus on clicks and conversions.

I usually collect 300-500 clicks before I can trust whether or not the CTR is solid. 21 isn't close to enough.

A good CTR, depends on the traffic source, the niche, the banner location, and also banner dimensions. Moral of the story is no here is going to be able to give you a "good" CTR do to there being soooo many variables.

You need to focus on getting some more traffic your impressions and clicks are too low to tell. Get as much as you can as fast as you can.

21 clicks over 2 days is tiny.
