Lead Generation transition to Affiliate Marketing

Hi everyone,

I've been running a marketing/lead generation business for sometime now and am now looking to get into affiliate marketing.

With my lead generation business I am pretty much delivering leads from PPC traffic to landing pages that I have designed and tested that offer my clients services and most of the time a free consultation (depending on what client it is).

From what I can tell affiliate marketing is pretty simular and from a business standpoint there's 2 main reasons why its appealing to me. One, I don't have to go through a sales process to get new clients, which takes up a lot of time and second, I checked out Offer Vault and theres already companies very simular to what my clients do and sometimes the commissions are greater than what I am making with my clients now.

My question is, how simular is affiliate marketing to what what I am already doing with lead generation for my clients and what affiliate network would be a good one to join first?

Any suggestions and feedback would be appreciated.

It's pretty much same thing. Remember that Adwords for instance doesn't like affiliate so it's easier to push custom made landing pages for you customers.

For ease of getting in you should contact peerfly they have pretty good range of offers and are trustworthy network.

    Thanks,
    Johnny

Thanks Johnny! I actually just filled out an application for Peerfly about 10minutes before I posted this. I was wondering how easy it would be for me to get accepted considering I have 0 affiliate marketing experience even though I have been doing lead generation for a good while.

How much liberty do you have with custom landing pages? Right now I really work with my clients to make sure the landing pages I am design answer all their potential customers pain points, FAQ and so on. I am guessing that I wont have that much access (if any at all) with someone at the company and would have to develop something 100% on my own.

I apologize if these are basic questions. Right now I am standing on the outside looking in.

The main 4 differences I see..

    - You have less control over the lead capture page with Affiliate/CPA Marketing.

    - You will run into more restriction when advertising from ad networks when using Affiliate/CPA links.

    - You will get less feedback on the lead quality. They will be more like "Yes, we want these" or "No, don't send up traffic."

    - You will have to do a bit more digging for good offers and niches.

With those all being said, I think it is well worth it for someone with your skills to explore CPA/Affiliate Marketing.

It sounds very similar. Many affiliate marketers also turn to local lead generation to make more money, so to me it just sounds like you're going the other way (there is no problem with this)

Greedy, I was thinking the same thing in regards to feedback and client relationship.

ChrisBa, Well it doesn't surprise me considering I have been known to do things backwards! That does make me feel a little more better about getting my feet wet in this industry.

I just got accepted to Peerfly and was thinking about finding some smaller offers to start out with to get my feet wet. Does that sound like a good strategy to start with? I was also wondering about Peerfly's EPC and CR they have on their offers. How accurate are those? I would imagine as long as I am biding my CPC lower than the EPC I should be safe?

I'm interested to see if you actually followed through with going the CPA/Affiliate route. I'm doing lead gen right now and have thought about going that route, too. Did you make the switch and how did it go for you? Do you have any advice for those of us considering the same change?
