Marketing an Amazon Affiliate Store

I have an Amazon eCommerce affiliate store. It is nice looking and has a product I know is pretty popular but I am unsure how to rank and promote it. I have a blog on the site to add content and therefore ranking, but the product doesn't really lend itself to that kind of content. I am unsure of how to use Social Media to market it aside from "Look how cool our products are buy them plz k thx". I could use PPC but I figure that would eat into my profit too much for this type of site... any other ideas?

Amazon has in my experience taken a ton of time and clicks to get going... But if you had a blog that reviewed products and they were physical products I could see you getting clicks so long as it was as a good review and you were known as an authority that could work...
I know some youtubers that review $1000+ cameras and gadgets and get great conversion rates.
They just leverage that authority and do good video content and refer the links in the description box.

    Consider if the person is
    A) already looking or considering the product
    B) trusting your review
    C) they already know amazon

Hope that helps you in the right direction.

There are two main types of Amazon affiliate stores - Review site and Online store site.

In my opinion, online stores with plenty of products are easier to promote, because review sites have some disadvantages:
    - To make this site work, you have to create very good articles (reviews).
    - The products on such sites can go out of date and your website will stop bringing any profit.
    - If your review site is devoted to very popular products you will come across with high competition and it will be difficult to get your site on top.

Speaking about big online stores that use special Amazon affiliate plugin I would mention following advantages:
    - Easy to create - all content is uploaded and updated automatically on regular basis with the help of Xenia Amazon affiliate plugin.
    - More Products = More Pages on Google = More Long Tail Keywords = More Traffic = More Commission.
    - Such sites are always up-to-date and has fresh products.

So, my advice for you is to upload more products to your store and enjoy the profit

These days you really have to think laterally if you want to rank Amazon affiliate stuff. The "easiest" way in my experience is to write "how-to" content that then recommends Amazon products.

I can't tell you the number of times I have Googled something like "How to make mozarella", "How to make a solar-powered irrigation system for your garden" (examples ) and the top-ranked results have this great explanation yet the writer doesn't think to put affiliate links at the end (which really wouldn't affect their rankings - like they even care about their rankings most of them!) The affiliate links would show the visitor where to buy the equipment/parts/whatever they need to get the job done.

This is by far the most effective way for me now, but it takes effort of course, and knowledge (yeah, I know, we all want to rank without either of those, but that's getting harder and harder).

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

you can always create your own fanpage around your niche and start putting some valuable content and periodically you can start pushing your products..

I am currently experimenting with 2. Fresh store builder and Worpress affiliate store. The first I like how easy it is to get around, the second one uses WProbot and I cant get products added. So far I uploaded 5 products and they dont even have a picture. And from what I have seen, you cant upload products manually and change its product description. And this last one seems to have no kind of support anywhere.

Is anyone using any of these?

I am going to go out on a limb here and say you are probably wasting your time with that stuff. What you are creating sounds like thin and basically unoriginal content with affiliate links slapped in. It's all the wrong way round - create some decent content, get some traffic coming and THEN worry about what tool you are going to use to get the affiliate links in there. In my opinion that is really the least of the problems these days. Automated WPRobot and Storebuilder content (that is basically pulled off Amazon) is just not going to cut it these days - maybe there is still someone out there making that work but I doubt it.

I agree with you, I am adding these to blogs that I have with all original content that are high ranking already and generating sales. I wanted to try to see if these would help boost sales.

Can you are the product at all, maybe you could write review of the products or tips and tricks around the products or just general info around them?
