Backlinks are not helpful for improve site rank. What should I do ?

I have a website (chardhamtour.in)whose ranking has been getting lower after the Google update that happened in March 2018. I have been trying to improve it by creating numerous backlinks on the site but it hasn't made any difference to the ranking. I have also checked the on page issues numerous times but i am still not able to figure out the problem.

    First, check the technical side of your website to see if there is any technical issue that holds your SEO back. Then, build high-quality links from authoritative sites in your niche. If you still cannot rank, try to improve user experience (improve site speed, reduce bounce rate, optimize for organic click-through rates & increase time on site).

    How long have you had these backlinks?

    Can you share the niche or how saturated it is?

      That pretty much explains your problem. All but one of the methods you described for getting your backlinks are worthless (and the one that isn't - guest posting - can also be seen as worthless spam if not done correctly).

      The rule for backlinks is very simple: If you can drop the link yourself on another person/company's website, it is a worthless link. Google knows that websites can do this so they do not value them at all (i.e. blog comments, Web 2.0 links, article submission links, forum links, social bookmarks, links on social networks). Even many guest post links are worthless if they are on websites that allow all sorts of trash articles on their website about nothing (splog) or they are already known to Google as a guest posting farm.

      The only links that have a chance of helping you are ones you actually earn by having something that other websites actually WANT TO link to. If another website owner makes a conscious decision to link to you, it is probably a good link (especially if it is in a related industry). Start by finding sites in related industries that already link to other websites. See what kinds of things they like to link to. Create that type of article/video/image/infographic and then let them know about what you created.

      Finally, according to SEMRush, you only have a total of 22 backlinks from 5 whole domains, and only 7 of those links are dofollow (from just 2 domains). So really, you have what amounts to 2 backlinks from unique domains (the repeats on the same domain don't really help you for SEO). One domain is secretsearchenginelabs.com (which I guarantee you is worthless) and the other is viesearch.com, which is also worthless. Really, you have zero backlinks that are of any value at all.

    Do a search on Google for one of the keywords you ranked well for. Now visit the sites in the top 3 or 4 positions and really look at the content on each. Is your content much much better than these pages that are ranking well?


    If your content is not much better than these, you may just need to make your content better. Be extremely honest with yourself when comparing your content to the content that is currently ranking high.

      Thanks Rob for your well suggestions. But my site was very good in rank before march 2018 but after came the update of google It shows lower in rank rather we made a lot of good backlinks of high D.A. It means the good quality links have made no improvement in site ranking rather the site had decreased in rank.

      So could you check my website and tell me about issue?

        If the backlinks are not helping, then it could be as simple as your content is not as good as the sites ranking above you. That's why I said to check the content of the sites ranking above you to see if they have better content. Could be the algo change is looking closer at content and less at backlinks.

    Most of your backlinks are most likely worthless forum profiles, blog comments, video description links etc., Build quality backlinks on authority sites in your niche and see if that makes a difference

    I agree with many of the suggestions that the links may not be the best. I would definitely suggest taking the time to review your links and possibly come up with a strategy that involves high quality link building.

    On the other side, if the links are good, it definitely could be a content issue. If people are not spending time on your site, and bouncing that could be why the rankings are falling. I would recommend taking a read of Brian Dean's Rank Brain article: https://backlinko.com/google-rankbrain-seo

    Check your website with google's pagespeed optimization tool (Google it). Since your site is travel related, you might be having many images. Check how google wants you to optimize the images. Also, Geo target the images on your website..

    Maybe its time to rethink your backlink strategy, create quality content that would make the linksters in your niche link to you. But content has to be of thorough details and precision along with quality solution as a resource to link to.
    This is how its gonna work now, that is how you generate quality backlinks that are worthy enough in any search engine's eyes.

    A few ideas for you Sonali:

    - building high quality backlinks that improve your SEO juice takes years; first it takes years of writing practice to become a skilled writer who earns backlinks, but it also takes years of networking and generous helping to build bonds that lead to features, mentions and guest post opportunities on top sites

    - comment genuinely on top blogs in your niche to build friendships

    - promote top bloggers in your niche to build friendships

    - write 500 words daily in a Word document - then trash it - to improve your writing skills, to make your content really pop

    - publish 2-3 helpful posts weekly to your blog

    Creating and connecting helps you land high quality links but remember; it takes time buddy. Backlinks are not offered like candy to a baby, from top bloggers. Backlinks are earned, when you prove that you know your stuff and when you are connected.
