I hear a lot SEO can be free? But hosting a website costs.

Hey! So I'm curious on what people mean by "Affiliate marketing and SEO is extremely cheap". Do they mean that it's main focus is Organic Traffic via SEO and keyword targeting? For example I've started two sites today as side projects. They both cost 270$/each via Bluehost. That isn't nearly free. I'm a newbie so be nice to me. Just curious about what people see as "Free" or "extremely cheap".

    I'm a little confused Oliver on your question. But will share some thoughts as I think I know what you're asking.

    #1 - SEO is search engine optimization, which often requires a small financial investment - domain and hosting - but a years long work investment (creating, connecting, learning how to write, practicing writing) to see success in that niche.

    #2 - $27 is pretty cheap, or, nearly free It is just money anyway. Only money. A simple means of exchange.

    #3 - Everybody's view of money is different. Some see $100 or $1000 as pretty cheap, based on the perceived value of the exchange. All about how much or little clarity you have concerning spending and receiving money.

      Oh it said 270$ not 27$! But that is for several years so it's fairly cheap in the long-term. And it isn't expensive if you see it as a long term investment. I'm looking for some tools atm that isn't costing a fortune, but it's kinda hard to find. You seem like a fairly educated person, any advices/tips?

    You really have to invest somewhere in the process. SEO is a tactic that you can do for free with plugins or skills (and patience).

      Yeah, it can be cheap. Or you can just pay the money and receive results. SEO might be tiring.

    Im not getting the logic here.... you want to start an online business? a domain name and hosting is just a given expense.... when we say " FREE " we are refering to the simple trade out of lifes most important comodities Time vs Money... IF you have the TIME you write articles and gain traffic through search engines... if you have MONEY, you follow the opposite path and you pay for advertising to boost your traffic flow instantly vs over time.

    The arguement is then made that even " FREE " is at the expense of your time..and really what is that worth?

      I wrote this post in a rush.
      Lately , I've seen many "gurus" going for the clickbait titles as "START SEO FOR ABSOLUTY NOTHING" etc. And then they make a video about it and it's often false advertisment.
      No business is completely free. My question was pretty simple, can a successive SEO business be completely free?

    Some people may do affiliate marketing without website. SEO can be free if you write your own content with keyword targeting and post articles on other websites to get backlinks.

    I'm very confused. Why did this cost you $270 each?

    Each domain costs me approx $10 per year. Understandably hosting can cost $10-100 (or more) per month depending on the type. If you are just getting started then shared or vps will do ($10-50 per month). What's costing so much?

        That's not horrible, but the hosting should cover all of your sites, you shouldn't need a different hosting plan for each site.

    They mean SEO is cheap compared to other traffic sources like PPC. But SEO is extremely time consuming and your time is money so keep that in mind.
