Looking for advice -- Helping companies share data in exchange for revenue and other benefits

3 replies
Hey all,

Glad to join the forum! Seems like a great community.

To start things off, I'm working on a new project with B2B companies as the primary stakeholders.

We're exploring how businesses can leverage data to access new benefits, including:

* Cheaper and faster credit
* Trade insurance + invoice protection
* Market insights
* Data monetization

Is that something that would interest your?

If so, what types of data would you be willing to share?

(For example -- accounting software, bank statements, Power BI, CRM, ERP, etc.)

P.S. Assume the more data you'd share, the greater the benefits.

    Me, personally, not interested in 1 and 2. Interested in 3 and 4 but willing to share nothing. I have the feeling most feel like me about sharing their data.

    Getting organizations to share their data, even when it is obviously in their own and their clients' best interest (after making the data anonymous) is incredibly difficult.

    People need to have trust in who they're sharing that data with. Not only with the security, but how it's going to be used.

    I interviewed the co-founder of a wearable and data science solution to fight opioid addition. Despite "everyone" loving the idea, the founders being well-known in the community, and the concept truly having a chance of making a difference, local health organizations were loathe to share their data.

    Yes, they have HIPAA requirements to abide by, but these can be complied with and the data scientists could even go on-site so no data would be taken away. Still the heads of the health organizations were nervous even with education on the topic and these other trust factors in place. Getting them to share their data was a hurdle, in my opinion at least, more challenging than getting funding to scale the idea.
