Restaurant - Online Ordering System

Hi,
I am a small restaurant owner. I want to incorporate online ordering system into my website. Any suggestions on a best and cost efficient solution?

    You are asking on an internet marketing forum where I doubt there are many people her who are running restaurants thought may be a few. If you want to hire a company to change your website - that would be an ad in the want-to-hire section.



    A google search for restaurant online ordering system will give you pages of results/ads/reviews for such systems.

    If you're planning on doing it yourself, most eCommerce platforms will work just as well for restaurants as any other type of business. We prefer Shopify because it is so easy to use and the cost is relatively inexpensive (as low as $30/month including hosting).

    I suggest you take at look at WordPress + a plugin for restaurant ordering / booking.


    There are at least 2 plugins that work quite well and even in the free version they give ample functionality.


    I've built 1 demo small restaurant website myself, using the simplest of the two plugins. I cannot post a link right here because the rules don't allow for links.

      The problem with WordPress is you are going to have to pay for hosting yourself, buy an SSL certificate and install it, and you also have to deal with PCI compliance. That can be a nightmare to deal with for people who do not know what they are doing and often results in paying far more in "non-compliance fees" than a hosted solution like Shopify, BigCommerce, Shift4, etc. which do all of that for you.

      My take is that the O.P. wanted to keep it simple.

    This doesn't pertain to which ordering system to use, but, as other folks have provided smart and helpful answers there, wanted to share something fun I came across today that may or may not also be applicable to you (OP). Apparently the UK restaurant Bob Bob Ricard outsells all other restaurants in the area on champagne - and credits a pretty ingenious design addition for their success: Every table has a "press for champagne" button, which both plants the idea in everyone's head, while also making it extremely easy for them to do. Food for thought, anyhow (and interested to see what backend they use for that! )
