Hi, I'm looking to change my current audio recording software from Streamyard to hopefully a free version. Does anyone have any recommendations of software or apps which you actually use and are free? Basically wanting to record voice for a podcast of about 10-15mins long and then download the audio file to edit it in another program, so only need to be able to record and download. Thanks.

  • Have you tried the Anchor app? Maybe serves you for that purpose

    • Interesting! I had a look and seems like they have some nice features like analytics of users experience etc. I may give this a go as it seems to be targeting podcasters. Thanks for the suggestion.
  • One program, that is STILL being improved, etc.... that will probably work for you here is audacity.
no tricks, flexible, free, multi platform, multi track, easy to use, and easily downloadable:

    • I use Audacity for all kinds of projects, and have for years.

    • Ok great. I remember using this program way back probably 20 years ago. I didn't know it was still going. I'll take a look. I remember it had some nice ability to do decent level changes and adjustments to sound volume, which is useful if you aren't close enough to the mic. Thanks.
