Are Cheap Pop Ads Unprofitable in 2024?

I joined a paid affiliate forum and followed a guide to making $ as a beginner in pop ads. I have made small revenue in doing this I'm negative 90% ROI on 6 offers. I feel like I'm wasting my money and not learning anything because the stats aren't showing much data whatsoever (especially on PopAds). The guide is 4yrs old and I've learned affiliate marketing changes quick so I'm unsure if this is still something a beginner should be doing.

I don't mind losing money it as long as I'm learning but have been using networks like PropAds and PopAds to which I don't feel like I'm learning much of anything. I'm not creating any of the landers or able to view where these ads are being placed to make adjustments. I've just been going to Mobipum and Zeydoo then running their top offers per instructions in foreign countries. Traffic isn't even THAT cheap, the cpms are in some cases like 15 dollars yet I'll pull back in like 2! People have to make money there right? Otherwise the networks like Mobipium and Zeydoo as well as the traffic sources like PopAds and Propeller Ads would be out of business otherwise.

Not looking for a get rich quick scheme but want something I will actually be able to learn from and scale so I'm not just wasting time and money. Call me out if I'm being arrogant or dumb here, I just want to learn. THANK YOU!!

It might not be exactly the same, but I've been working in SEO for roughly seven years and still strive to learn from more experienced SEOs. While there is plenty of cheap or even free content available to help you improve your skillset--especially when you're just starting out--I've noticed that the truly valuable information often comes from more expensive courses. However, it's crucial to check the reputation of the people offering these courses, the level at which they're pitched, and whether they suit your needs.

I would suggest spending time learning from free resources until you've built a solid foundation of knowledge. Then, consider investing in paid alternatives to take your skills to the next level. If you have the time and motivation, this approach will likely bring long-term benefits.

The fundamentals of affiliate marketing will never change:

promote an affiliate product to earn commissions

You don't need to waste time and money to learn, read
a book and set up something that will work for you.

Typically that is a website, social media presence, or a
funnel/system, that promotes an offer so you get paid
    for a lead or sale.

It helps if the offers you push are in demand and high
quality ones, and of course you need a method that
    generates traffic.

It also helps if affiliate marketers would put in some
work, most beginners are looking for passive income
methods that don't require setup and maintenance
and they get discouraged when it doesn't pan out.

Listen, I'll be straight with you - pop ads in 2024 aren't the goldmine they used to be. That 4-year-old guide you're following? It's outdated in today's fast-moving affiliate world. With pop-up blockers everywhere and sky-high CPMs, you're fighting an uphill battle. Those $15 CPMs for a $2 return? That math just doesn't add up anymore.

Instead of chasing diminishing returns, why not pivot to where the real opportunities are? Build an audience through value-driven content, explore native ads or push notifications, and most importantly, learn to create and optimize your own landing pages. Sure, it's more work upfront, but it's how you'll actually learn the ropes and build something sustainable. Affiliate marketing isn't dead - it's just evolved. Time to evolve with it.

I tried something similar years ago well almost a decade ago whereby some popular mentor that churned out the YT videos, (cannot remember his name off hand) recommended postcards and l believe some popup setup that was working.

Shy ed away from both and tried PPC, (well a course that also bombed but l did put seriously money into it for about 7 months).

Same thing profits could never get past advertising costs.

I believe that the only real way to make a profit, (apart from selling a high profit product or creating one) is paid subscriptions, (usually requires massive expenditure for video tutorials information and the like as well as paid forum costs) and or a responsive list.

Tried creating my own product, (underconstruction WP app) which l sold here mainly through affiliates and it made over 1k but most of that went to others and the programmers l used only cost me $130.

Then too many scammers used giraffe sites, (stolen credit cards) and that was that.

Also tried to set up a subscription site with tons of useful information from a third party type sites video tutorials but that also bombed.

    Good luck.
