Setting Yourself Apart From Others

The sign at the local dry cleaner read "we hand scrub all collars and cuffs."
Before I read it I hadn't even been thinking about dry cleaning but afterwards I couldn't stop.
I started to look at my dress shirt and notice a slight stain in the cuff area where it hadn't been cleaned since it's last press.
When I got home I took the shirt off and looked at the collar. Same thing.
The next day I got all of my dry cleaning ready and drove across town to this place to drop it off.
Why - because they set themselves apart from every other $1.99 dry cleaner. They let me know that they would take care of my dress shirts even though I never thought about it.
They addressed a need that I didn't even know I had until then. They showed me a problem and solved it - all with 7 words.
You can do the same thing. It does no good to do things other people don't if you don't tell others about it.
I started my offline marketing mentoring this week and one of my students thanked me. He said he signed up with another guy and had to request a refund because the guy never returned a single email in the course of a week.
So I set myself apart by being approachable. Not to mention being good at what I do and tailoring the message to the person's situation.
You could do the same. Stand apart and let others know how you do and the world will beat a path to your door.
