Over Deliver or Overwhelm?

Many of the “Gurus” tend to throw a lot of bonuses to get you buying a product, it seems great at the time but they can easily overwhelm you within seconds of the purchase.
I remember when i was younger, at around 12 years old i think, and i had taken up stamp collecting.
My brother in Law had a brother who was a very keen stamp collector, and he gave me a huge bunch of stamps for my collection.
Boy i was happy at the time, but very quickly i had got the overwhelm, lost interest and moved on to the next thing.
That may be common in a 12 year old, and it may also be common in an internet marketing newbie experience.
I find it offensive sometimes the amount of bonuses on offer, i have no use for them, no time to use them to learn them and its getting in the way of my business…How can that be?
Lets take a recent example, i got back into Internet marketing after a few years, the last attempt was pretty lame but i had a business working well at that time so it wasn’t a disaster for me.
I had taken a brief peek into to the I.M arena, spent a bit (over $5k on products i never used or learned to use) as many people tend to do and faded away.
Anyway, i am digressing a bit here. so i got back into I.M and bought PPC Classroom, i got half way through and decided to take a look at some bonuses that i got.
From that point i was introduced to Jeff Johnson, Howie Schwartz, Chris Carpenter and several others.
I bought Google cash detective next and then i found another bunch of people (Mike Filsaime, Michael Rasmussen, Andy Williams, Adam Short and many more…before i knew it i have emails coming from at least 25 different marketers, all in various spheres of internet marketing and guess what?…I never did finish that PPC classroom course, i spent another 5-6k by now i think and here i am blogging about it which is not making money
Whats the solution?
I have decided that if i see a product being overwhelmed with bonuses and there are several people selling the product, i will look for the most useful bonus for my business and failing that i will buy from a lesser known marketer who might not have the bonuses to offer but has the guts to compete with the big players.
If you put yourself in the place of a buyer, and often these products are aimed at Newbies then give some thought to them. It would be far better to offer something real and of value than just dumping loads of products that will kill their enthusiasm as soon as they feel that cloud of overwhelm thinking about what they need to learn now.
Here's a suggestion, why not give them something of real value, somnething that can be given through a period of time so as not to overwhelm, give them something that is more thoughtful and personal, and something that they will benefit from and in relation to the first product that they were buying.
My final thoughts are this, after 3-4 months full time in internet marketing i wouldn't want to buy half of the products i did in the first 2 months.
Get your strategy right first, learn from people like Rich Schefren, Andrew Lock, stompermet or someone who helps you understand that systems and strategies, organic search marketing basics are more important to understand than some tools.
Dont buy tools or tactics unless you have time to learn them and real need for them now.
The cost of those tools could just as easily be spent on outsourcing.
Take for example the $1000+ i spent on Google Cash detective...i am not really knocking the product but i didn't get value for it, i wouldn't buy it again and certainly not at that price...anyway, look at $1000 + $97 a month...
For the same money, i could have had 150 articles written on a niche market, i could have bought Animoto video player service and done a bunch of videos.
I could have outsourced someone to create a 10 page wordpress site for $100, and outsourced a VA to create squidoos, hub pages and synidicated videos to over 50 sites for free.
Looking back i know that would have done me more good and got me residual income.
The lessons for newbies are obvious looking back but i dont see anyone telling the same stories, hence, i started a blog on warrior forum.
Hope it helps someone!
