I have just read an article about how Google works on their search queries. And it's kinda exciting to share it with other people.
It's curiosity that pushes me to search about this one, cause it leaves me to wonder how they handle bunch of search requests and deliver replies right away.
As what I've learned, when people tend to do a search on Google (web), they aren't really searching on the web exactly - on the contrary they are searching on Google’s indices of the web with help of the crawlers or better known as 'Spiders'. Spiders is a software program where it crawls few web pages, follow the links on those pages and fetch the pages they point too. And follow all the links on those pages and fetch those pages they link too and so on.
But how do Google figure out what is the most relevant to the GIVEN SEARCHED TERM/s? Actually they have many questions to ask too (hundreds of them) before giving feedback, or formula as what they call it.
FORMULA such as:
- How many times does this page contain the GIVEN SEARCHED TERM/s (keyword), or do these keywords appear on the title, URLs, or does the page contain synonyms for this words?
- Is this page is from a quality website or low quality, or spammed?
- PageRank (helps search engines determine how relevant and important (helpful) the page is to the people).
They do ranking by looking how many outside links pointing to it and how important those links are. In other words the more visitors to that page the more relevant it is. Of course, cause people will not keep on visiting it if it’s not that much of use.
So I think that’s all I can share for this time. But I will inform you right away for further information related to these matters. It’s really urging me to dig deeper. But if there's anything you can tell me - please feel free.
