It is wise to consider all visitors as either not a computer expert or just lazy to do deep browsing. So, you should be able to create a really catchy design that is easy for visitors to navigate through and review your content. Otherwise, they'll leave your site in seconds.

Hi Kevin Nonvise, May I ask, what is the primary goal of the site? The reason I ask is that for many types of sites, such as lead- or sales-generation sites, bounce rate is not as important as it is often made out to be. I've seen a number of times where the bounce rate of a page was high but the conversion rate was good or excellent. And if bounce rate is made a goal when optimizing a page through A/B or multivariate testing, it can hurt revenue-generating goals. This is not to say that bounce rate isn't important, especially for certain types of sites. And other WF members have made some relevant suggestions to help improve bounce rates. But a higher bounce rate isn't necessarily a problem in some cases, and concern about it can actually be a misleading distraction from focusing on other more important metrics - such as conversion rate and value per visitor. Content is one problem. But the layout of your website or blog is also another problem too!

There are some great points here. Can you possibly also share your website url? Among the several factors that might affect users and cause them to leave quickly, there could potentially be some simple steps you can take. Also if you have the data, I would consider how much desktop Vs. mobile traffic you receive - just to share what I'm thinking - if you get a good deal of mobile users and your site is not really mobile optimized, that should be another area to focus on.

Hi i think the only way is to give your visitors catchy , attractive a meaningful content regarding your topic and you must also consider to make your page designing simple but appealing you may yous some H1 and H2 in such a way so your visitor must focus on going in further details , if your content is not very informative and unique this problem will continue

You need to review your content as well as the design of your site. Complex design is also one of the main reasons of high bounce rate. And poorly written content also causes bounce rate issues. So try to make your design more appealing with catchy titles and headlines. Good luck.

Hey Kevin, Great question, and ton of us should work on this. I enjoy doing the following: 1. I focus about 10 minutes on my title name so that it has emotional value. I mean the copy blogger folks put it as "On average, 8 out of 10 people will read headline copy, but only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. This is the secret to the power of your title, and why it so highly determines the effectiveness of the entire piece." I use www.aminstitute.com/headline/ to help me with the scoring. 2. I try to include data or contextual links to value to an article every 3 to 400 words that open in a new frame. This way they can read it and close that window and continue in mine. 3. Add a quiz to your article to have your readers take in regards to the article. 4. Take the time to create an amazing photo to go with it. 5. Create an amazing call to action for your readers. Neil did a great job giving you some ideas here 13 Ways to Reduce Bounce Rate and Increase Your Conversions There are tons more but I hope this helps Thanks, Chris |

Make sure your load times are as fast as possible. Especially on mobile. Slow load times are the #1 culprit in high bounce rates.

Perhaps your website doesn't satisfy the query of the visitors or they leave your website in seconds because they're using mobile and your website is unresponsive.
