Unbelievable discounts

Check out the stated discount on this offer.

To me, discounts are like claims: They can be too good to be believable, so it makes you question the whole deal (this is just an example, I'm not a prospect for this product).

  • " Today, if you promise to not tell the other people who paid the $1997.00 …You Can Join Us Live For $1950 Off The Original Price!"

They should have had a stronger reason for the discount. It leads one to believe that the product is even better than produced for those that paid $1997

"Today, as a special offer you get our re-vamped version 2.0 in a better, more -streamlined format"

I think it would be much more effective to have a strong reason for the discount. I don't know what that might be. Fire sale, moving offices, newer version coming, damaged goods ( hard to damage a webinar ) etc.

    • Yep. Huge "discounts" make my bullshit senses tingle. I'm not knocking the product you linked to, because I don't know anything about it. But anyone who has spent more than an hour in the IM industry can see a hugely "discounted" product was probably always the "discounted" price to begin with.

Plus, big "discounts" can backfire and actually devalue the product. I think, "Wow, this person is selling their $5K product for $27. It must really blow."
  • Wow. That big a discount immediately raises a red flag for me. But I'm kind of a skeptic by nature when it comes to this niche.
  • But No One This Using or Talking About them …
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Yeah, I've seen cases in copy where ONE word made all the difference in conversions when using offers that seem too good to be true.

    That word is "because".

Without it, a lot of times the offer looks exactly what Joe, Nick, and Angie said... too good to be true.

But throw in "because" and add a valid reason that's not based on B.S. and it usually helps quite a bit.

I used to sell printed paperback versions of my fitness programs.

Got a batch in one day that had a misspelling on the cover, it was my fault.

So I sent an email to my list, told them I was dropping the price down from
$49 to $5 because of the misspelling... and sold all of them in a week.

With online stuff... you could probably come up with any truthful angle
and if you explain to folks why you're offering such a discount, it may
be fine. That should usually be written in copy anyways, offering the
    value contrast.

But even if its WAY too low of a price, you could add because and
say something like "Well, my $10,000 tax bill is due tomorrow and
just so it doesn't put a damper on my cash flow for my business,
I'm offering one of my top selling programs for a full 75% off."

Anyways, I'd much rather do something like that instead of just
throwing out a low, low price that triggers the B S meter.

  • Yeah, if there'd been a valid reason, it would have been less likely to immediately trip my BS meter.

Don't tell the others who bought at full price? Riiiiiiight.

  • Wow! This has to be the first time - EVER - we've been trolled in this way. First, we did sell this live training to a small group in an upsell format. We had 50 people on the call and the success rate was nuts. The price you see is a "TEST" - when it comes to pricing "training" its never easy and realistically, there is no correct price. It all comes down to - how much you want to make and how much traffic you can drive.

If you know anything about me, you would know I release some crazy methods to driving and funneling traffic. Most people will never talk public about this stuff I do. So the copy is legit, but for "newbies" or people who don't take it serious - you're not the right customer anyways.

One thing I want to focus on here : Above you said our NICHE. This isn't a MMO / BIZ OPP only training ...
Thanks for all your thoughts, some of the comments got me thinking :0)
