  • As a newer member of the forum the first thing I did was read over the Rules and Sticky Threads. Since I was looking to become a respected member of the community it seemed like a good investment of my time.

    Thanks for the advice. Hope it finds the right ears.

    • A lot of the people posting basic or pointless questions are just posting to get their sig links seen. I know, it's shocking. They are not worth your time to reply to. Not sure if this applies to the poster you're talking about, but it's a distinct possibility. Real people usually come back and want to talk to you, whereas spam posters just want to rack up the posts as quickly as possible.
  • I read the guidelines. Before I post a question for help, I search the forum. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I include details about my efforts in the post, so people know I actually did try and find the answer on my own.

    Then again, I own and administer a forum of my own. I'm its most model citizen.

    That's a question my ninth grade English teacher would occasionally blurt out suddenly for shock value and it almost always came up as a result of "courtesy issues" in class. You know, stuff like please and thank you. She absolutely insisted we treated her and each other with courtesy. What a concept, huh? Unfortunately, this is yet another post about common courtesy.
