Clayton Makepeace's Total Package

I really miss the Total Package.

I went from busting my ass for nothing to having nearly a six figure a year (profits) business just off the free stuff I learned from Clayton and his gang.

Then I figured I should show some appreciation for all they have done and buy some of his stuff, and my business now is approaching mid six figures.

Troy White is still publishing often and doing a great job, and Dan Levis puts out great stuff when he posts and has great products as well.

But I really miss the Total Package. It was, IMHO the best free resource there has been for someone who wants to learn to make it in this business.

I hope that something comes along in the future as good, but haven't found it yet.

All of Clayton's articles are still up there, and if your new and have not taken the time to read them, frankly your insane. The free info up there is superior to almost every single $2000 course being sold.

I just thought about this because I'm having to write some LOOOOONG copy and because of that going through, IMO the best course on copy out there, The Desktop Copy Coach and it made me miss Clayton's stuff. (Carlton's is, IMO now the very best available...I never did it with the coaching and I'm sure it's even better that way)
So that's about all. I was just wondering how many others feel the same as me.

    Kelly,

    I agree 1000%.

Clayton stopping the Total Package was a big loss but... pulling his paid products off the market was a huge loss.

His Quickstart Copywriting System (formerly Desktop Copy program) is/was simply awesome. I wouldn't sell my copy at any price.

Maybe if enough copywriters email Clayton, he'll have a change of heart.

Right now, I think David Garfinkel (his templates program rocks) or maybe David Deutsch are best positioned to step up and fill part of the void.

    Take care,

    Mike

I have to admit I learned a lot from the Total Package and looked forward to seeing my regular installments in my inbox.

Surprise then when they no longer appeared. I've subscribed to the RSS feed and since the whole thing has stopped, I think I have had one or two posts drop by.

I bought a few of his products which I thought were brilliant. i do miss it and think someone should quickly take its place!

Yep, Desktop Copy Coach is a great course.

I also REALLY like Clayton's Screaming Eagle newsletter (many of them ended up as part of the DCC).

Someone also mentioned John Carlton's Simple Writing System. (Which was AWESOME)

The course itself is very good. It's straightforward and will really improve your writing. BUT, what made the experience even better was the coaching part.

I was fortunate to have David Deutsch as my coach. He was an outstanding teacher - who practiced lots of "tough love". I feel David helped me to write tighter, edgier copy.

          Anyway, both course/programs are great.

That sounds good to me. ; )

DD has something special in the works right now that I'll tell everyone about soon...

Garfinkel has a new free Copywriting Tip of the Day site coming soon too...

All is not lost... but I absolutely LOVE(D) The Total Package as well.'

I talked to Daniel Levis about this a few weeks ago. His contributions to the Total Package are amazing in their own right.

But I totally respect Clayton's desire to simplify and enjoy more of the success he's earned. You can't get back the time when grandkids are little.

He wrote about why he stopped. I think his kids all went away to
college and he wanted to sell his place and move to a warmer
climate. He also seems to feel he can earn more money for
his retirement net egg writing copy rather than teaching
      and managing an info-product business.

Kelly, what you've achieved off the back of free information is astonishing. Well done for getting busy and applying what you've learnt instead of looking for the next magic pill. I'd love to hear more about what you did.

Gee, I didn't know that....Like others here, I LOVED his stuff, and bought some that I still refer to. Clayton, to me, was in a tiny club of powerful copywriters, with superb business skills as well.

Agree with the OP, I miss the Package as much as I miss new issues of Gary Hallbert Newsletter....they ain't making 'em like that anymore, boys and girls.

Hey Kelly, there will never be another Makepeace!

          Or Halbert!

          That's for sure.

Have you tried Gary Bencivenga's 100 Seminar?

          I highly recommend it.

Also, I know people do this with Gary Halbert's newsletters... do you have a "top 5" list or a list of favorites for Clayton's letters or posts? Just curious.

          Thanks,

          Justin Quick

Wow, he'd have to charge some serious cash for his copy to out-pay a good info business. I woulda thought it was the other way around...

Well one of his clients, Martin Weiss, has a business that pulls in eight figures per month (you read that right, 8 figures per month), and Clayton and his team do the copy and get paid a % on the profits they generate for Weiss as far as I know. You'd have to have a hell of a MMO business to beat that

He's already given more than enough information there to make real Entrepeneurs incredibly wealthy.

Its a pity that he stopped, but between his site, the halbert letter, bencavinga bullets and the newsletters you get from the other very best copywriters out there, that is more than most people could ever need.

Clayton is and was King... and I say it that order because he was and he still is. You can learn so much from him. Copy has never been better. Hope we all use some of his ideas and do our best to make good copy.
