"Play Guitar" Swipe File?

COPY WRITING

I hope this finds everyone well since it's been a long time since I have posted in here...

Can anyone suggest any play guiter/learn guitar swipe files or copy that I MUST look at?

Yes, I tried the search feature but failed to find anything

I have a client meeting that I would like to prepare for, but was not sure if
anyone had any sure fire copy I needed to see first

Good to see ya.

I haven't checked, but maybe Clickbank has a play-guitar product that is doing well. If so, its sales letter would be worth a look-see.

You could also search Bing for "how to play the guitar" or something similar. They don't seem to mind listing sales letters in their search results.

(Having the Alexa toolbar installed is a good way to get a feel for any website's popularity.)

Hi Justin,

Years ago, John Carlton wrote a number of salesletters for a company in the "learn to play electric guitar" niche. I can remember one of the pieces talking about playing "killer riffs" but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the company right now and I don't have it in my swipe files either.

Maybe someone else on the board who's more current on John's work can point you in the right direction.

Yep, that's it! I kept remembering ohpdirect.com but that's a combination of John Carlton and Jim Curley's copy for golf products there.

I use ww.ultimate-guitar.com to find chords and tabs, and above EVERY song there's a single line of text that says "Can't play [this song]? Improve your playing via easy step-by-step video lessons!"

I just followed the link for you.

There's some basic sales copy, and a VSL.

I don't have any hard info about how successful it is, with their positioning on ultimate-guitar.com, they get enough traffic to have tested and optimized everything.

  You might look at those old "play piano" ads.
  
  Constructing an accurate avatar of the customer
  and having a plan to drive the correct demographic
  of traffic is important.
  
  Players that don't fit the avatar are not going to
  be interested. The market is already flooded
  with guitar instruction material at all levels and in
  most styles. Thus the wrong traffic will spell
  disaster if your client is paying for it.
