How can I test my copywriting skills?

Hi,

I'd like to learn copywriting,. I just think the skill can come in handy.

Is there any way I can do dry testing? Is there a copywriting equivalent to a laboratory or a shooting range? I don't think I have any products I can sell at this point.

I'd like to focus really on learning the skill rather then then greater IM aspect of it all for now.

To use the shooting range analogy you mentioned... There is a huge difference between pointing a gun at a target and dry firing it compared to using live rounds. So no, you can't dry fire a sales letter.

You have to run live traffic to a live offer. If you don't have something to sell than find a product on Clickbank, write your sales letter or VSL, and connect the buy button on your page to link to the Clickbank order form with your affiliate link.

If you hit a winner you not only make affiliate commissions but you can approach the product owner with your test results and sell them a proven winner.

Owning a kennel full of hunting dogs would also come in handy. But if you don't hunt, what's the point?

If making lots and lots of money comes in handy, then YES!

I have a theory about a well-known son of God. Unfortunately, this is neither the time or place. But long story short... you might be wrong.

You can test by simply finding an unwanted item around your home and listing it on eBay.

Write your listing using your copywriting skills and see how much it sells for. If you also look in completed listings (in the advanced search section), you'll find what similar items have fetched recently.

If you can beat the best price, you're on the right track.

Of course it would be handy if you had several identical items. Then you could make changes to your copy for each one and see which version of your copy works best!

By the time you've done all this, you will have...

      1. Given your copywriting skills a great workout.

      2. Cleared out some unwanted goods.

      3. Made some money.

      4. Found two new business opportunities...selling stuff on eBay, using your superior writing skills to knock the competition, or selling those skills to other ebayers !

      Hope that helps,

      Tim
