I wrote 3 headlines for a WordPress plugin. Need your expert opinion.

Are you launching this on WarriorForum, as a WSO?

If so, the best headline is likely something along the lines of:

"Program hacks Google To Earn You $1,495,481.43 PER DAY With Just A Simple Click Of A Button".

Seriously though, that's what your target marketing is looking for in the WSO section, if that's where you plan to launch.

Headline 1:

"How I tapped into the 1 billion daily views of Google Images - and how you can too, automatically..."

From your short description of what the plugin does this seems confusing
to me. You also don't have to define Google--this is a known--so some
wasted words there. Also there is no obvious benefit/results unless you
think it is a given for your audience.

"One-of-a-kind WordPress plugin unlocks secret backdoor to the top of Google."

Not enough information given. What does the plugin do? (Benefit?) What do you
get through this secret backdoor? Traffic I suppose?

"How I tapped into this forgotten 1-billion-views-per-day traffic source. One-of-a-kind WordPress plugin unlocks secret backdoor to the top of Google..."

This is just a combination of the first two headlines and so shares their
weaknesses.

My suggestion: It's a WordPress plugin so mention that--it does
something through Google so you can mention that, but I also
want to know the benefit of what it does--that's the missing element.

Thanks for the replies!

A few points:

- This will not be launched as a WSO, but on it's own site instead.

- Everyone knows Google, but not everyone knows the traffic Google IMAGES gets. That said, I see that the headline may not have been that clear.

How about this:

Headline 4:

"How I stumbled across this NEW way of getting page #1 Google rankings, traffic and sales (simple WordPress plugin does this FOR you).

What do you think?

Let's use what still gets more people to buy
and read...and that's newspaper headlines.

Yep, newspapers still sell more than Internet marketing products today,
so they aren't dead.

The headlines start with a factual thing,
then a action or a reaction.

Like "Obama Orders Air Strikes On..."

So here's how we do it with what you've got, with a twist...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Traffic Tool Forces Google To Hand Over Traffic You'll Want...
Without Short Term Black Hat Tactics"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've named the 'thing' so it sounds like something of value,
'Traffic Tool'.

Now for the action, 'Forces Google To Hand Over Traffic'.
Adds some curiosity.

Next we attach a benefit to it, 'You'll Want'.

Last we add what the reader doesn't want,
'Without Short Term Black Hat Tactics'.

Headline 1:

"How I tapped into the 1 billion daily views of Google Images - and how you can too, automatically..."

First off, I think the 1 billion views per day # is too high. It's unbelievable.

"You're telling me that if I buy whatever you're selling, I'm going to get 1 billion views
per day? HA! Yeah right!"

Now, I'm not exactly familiar with how your products work, or the market, so perhaps
1 billion views per day IS realistic.

But I think that most people simply won't believe it. 1 billion sounds like too much hype.
I would suggest actually lowering the number to make it more believable.

Headline 2:

"One-of-a-kind WordPress plugin unlocks secret backdoor to the top of Google."

I think this is too generic. What exactly does "the top of Google" mean?

Reading this headline makes me think you've got some plug-in that does SEO for my
site, and I've already got that covered. As will most people.

Now, if your plug-in does something different than the rest of SEO plug-ins, then that
should be communicated in your headline.

An SEO plug-in? Got one, thanks...

An SEO plug-in that suddenly gets me 10,000 visits a day from pics on my site?
NOW you've got my attention.

Headline 3:

I hate it when people say "secret traffic source"...

Not really. I would contend it's obvious the head is referring to the daily views of Google Images - not some schmuck's blog. In fact it would be way more than 1 Billion page views a day. BBC News - Google images top 1bn page views

That "BILLION" figure gets attention. What would you have him say? "There's, like, a lot of daily views on Google Images...

"Top of Google" too generic? Hardly. I would think if you're an internet marketer or even just a blogger you'd know exactly what "Top of Google means". Everyone wants to be "Top of Google Search. On the first page. One of the first ten but preferably in the first three - where most people click.

"Secret" anything, always pulls.

Your headline "Get 10,000 daily visitors to your site" is dangerously close to making a specific claim that can't be substantiated. Maybe if you said "Want to get 10,000 Daily visitors?" or even "Imagine getting 10,000 Daily Visitors to your site..." or "What would you do with 10,000 Daily Unique Visitors to your site?

But lots of people "promise" this.

So, why not "get to the top 3 in google and stay there"

If we look at the benefit of top 3 in Google,
it would be traffic. Going beyond traffic could be more sales
but then that may not happen, so let's dial it back and stick
with traffic as the big benefit.

Anyway, that's my thinking.

Traffic is useless unless it's converting. (Same with lists. List size means nothing - its the relationship with the list that is important.)

I had a blog that got over 500,000 Unique Visitors in a month. But the only monetization I had on the page was Adsense - guess how many people clicked?*

On the other hand...the Traffic propelled me to the Top of Google - #1 for the keyword - and that brought me traffic forever and a day.

As for which headline is best. We don't know enough about the product. But even if we did - it comes back to testing. But I would think #1 on Google rings everyone's bells. And that should be in the head somewhere - even if its just a handwritten line somewhere up the top.

* not many. I might have made $100.

You may be right.

I would rather have the "billion" people landing on my page every 17.8 seconds and it wouldn't worry me one dot if I was languishing in the basement of google ranked the last site on the planet.

But my unscientific logic suggests that people would be rather thrilled to be "permanently" in the top 3.

They feel that's where the money is.

Either way assuming both scenarios were actually affordable and possible nobody would be too distressed because they should be raking in non stop tankerfulls of wonga.
