Can't get samples from China sellers

I've found three good looking products online offered by China vendors. All of them have the website certifications and accept PayPal.

The problem is all have minimum buy quantities of 500 to 1,000 and none of them will sell a sample of their product.

Is this normal? I can't decide whether to take a chance or not and make an order. I'd hate to have to try to get my money back if the actual product is shoddy.

Don't take the risk on buying their MOQ! You must see a sample before you consider placing and order, and even then, you should negotiate a smaller order.

It can be done. I have taught hundreds how to do it.

I see several possible reasons why they have refused to sell you a sample:
    1. Your approach was wrong.
    2. They are traders, not manufacturers.
    3. They are scammers.
Regarding 1. Here are the most common mistakes made by newbies when they make their first approach to suppliers:
    • Don't mention that you are new to the business.
    • Don't tell them you are a sole trader.
    • Don't offer your business plan like you would to a supplier in the USA.
    • Don't ask what is their MOQ. They will tell you soon enough. That is when you might start working on them to supply a lot less.
    • Don't offer your tax or business registration details.
AND Don't ask for samples early in your communications with them
Regarding 2. Traders usually don't carry any inventory so they would have to buy a sample and chances are that the manufacturer has never even heard of that trader yet. Regarding 3. I am guessing that you have found these people on Alibaba. Be careful. Thousands have been scammed by suppliers they have found on that website. They are not all scammers of course, but why take the risk?
