Are you using shopify? Do you already have a wholesaler that has a datafeed? This can get a little complex because it all depends on what platform you have and what wholesaler you are using. I have mostly used Aliexpress with Shopify and the app I use is Shopifiedapp. This makes it easy to pull in products into your Shopify store. There is also a company called Doba. Google Doba dropship and you will find it.

You don't need Shopify. You can use Shopify Payments. Which is tied to Stripe. Have you tried this?

You don't advertise your store. You advertise each product. The key is testing to see if there is any interest in your product. Once you know that then you can run a wc ad optimized for add to cart

No that means Facebook will look for people who are most likely to convert. PPE is looking for people who like and share, WC is looking for people who buy. There is also clicks to website which you get charged by the click but I have not had much luck with those. But again you may so it doesn't hurt to test it.

There are a few things you can do for this. First of all I recommend Shopify because you can get an app called Shopifed App which helps you bring in products from Aliexpress with the click of a button. There is also an app called Linear Funnels for Shopify app. What this app lets you do is offer one product via a landing page then have upsells and downsells. It works really well. I know people who are personally doing thousands per day with Aliexpress products. The key is testing. You have to find products unique products and test them. This of course all depends on your budget. You can test some free + shipping offers to see if there is any interest then if there is add some retail products as upsells and also try and sell some retail products direct. I would also recommend on niche as opposed to a general store with many categories. Focus on something you are passionate about. You can do some searches in Facebook like "necklaces" "free" "just pay shipping" then look for the products that have a lot of comments and shares. This will tell you if that niche is passionate. Then go to aliexpress and find a product that is similar. I would also recommend clicking on their ads and following there funnel so you can reverse engineer what they are doing. Replicate successful sellers don't copy.

Well the traffic comes from Facebook by running ads to individual products. Once they come to your site they will see other products that you offer. That's why it's important to have a niche based site so you can get free sales. Also your fan page can help drive traffic if you are posting valuable content relating to your niche and even starting a blog can help. But like I said for me it's too much work. I would rather use a platform and test many products till I find a winner then focus on scaling that one. I don't really care much about a brand at this point. There are also other ways to bring traffic like Google video ads, Pinterest ads and Instagram ads. You can also do what is called shout outs. You can find influencers that have millions of followers for your niche and you can pay them to mention your site or product. I have not done this yet but I know people who are very successful with the approach. There is a course actually coming out soon that teaches this specifically.

First off, thank you for all the valuable info. I have more questions about how you get new products.

So, we opened our store a few months ago and we get about 100-300 visitors a day based on the product that we sell. We have now gained some recognition and want to offer swag like mugs and t shirts.

What do you recommend as a platform for creating swag like this but still push the traffic to our own website? Or is the best way to just purchase mugs, t shirts, etc. in bulk and t then offer on our shopify?

I am flipping through gearbubble right now but it looks like you have to use a gearbubble.com url and I don't want to turn off our existing customers who are already used to our website.

Yes you can make money with gearbubble. The key is you audience and your design. You have to test till you find a winner. Sometimes you may find it quick and sometimes not.

Well first of all you want to find out if your audience is on Facebook. You do that by going to Audience Insights. You can access audience insights once your Facebook ads account is setup. From there do some searches related to your niche and see what comes up. Depending on your product if it's high priced or low will depend how big of an audience you need to make money. I would also do searches on Facebook and Google to find keywords that can be targeted via Facebook. As for your landing page / sales funnel I would recommend clickfunnel. It's 99/mo but can do everything you need from upsells, downsales, landing pages etc.

To be honest I have not worked with Amazon yet. I know people who do and it's a bit more complex and there are more rules to working with them. I would recommend a dedicated course for selling on Amazon. Visit JVZOO dot com and go to the marketplace and see what courses are available for Amazon. You could also do a search on the forum and see if there is anyone reviewing the amazon courses.

I'm currently using GearBubble now because they have much better pricing on Mugs but Teespring is awesome too.

Realistically here is how it goes...

So this game is all about testing. You have to throw money at your designs to see if they are going to work and if they work you can scale them. There is no right or wrong answer. The only way to know is to test. Here is what I recommend.

Make sure you have spent a lot of time researching your audiences and make sure they are passionate. I would group your audiences by type like (associations, magazines, fan pages, websites, brands) Try and be at around 500K - 1M audience.

Then launch 1 adset per audience to see which audience are your buyers. I would put either $5 or $10/day per adset and let run for at least 4 days.

What this is going to do is give you data that you can use to analyze if your shirt is a winner and who your buyers are. If you do find a winner you can then start scaling out by duplicating your adsets and slightly increasing the budget. You can also split test your ages to see which age group is responding.

Now let's say you spend $100 - $200 in testing and you find a winner. Now once you focus on that winner you are going to easily recover the costs and start making profit. The amount of profit all depends on how big your audience is and how much money you have to scale. One thing that the gurus don't tell you is that it takes a lot of money to scale. When you see shirts that have sold 1,000 units that didn't happen by spending 10/day in ads.

The nice thing though is the more money you spend you can build up your credit with Facebook and then you can play with their money. I have a 5,000 credit with Facebook which means every month I can spend up to 5000 of Facebooks money to run ads and I don't have to pay it back till the end of the month.

If you have a winner you can make several thousands of dollars. I have made 30K on just one design. I spent 15K to do it so my profit in just 3 months was 14K So yeah you can make good money with shirts.

You need to have an original design though. The days of Keep Calm and Do this shirts are gone. With so many people selling shirts now you need to stand out. This is one reason I'm now leading with mugs and then upselling tshirts.

GearBubble is not a scam. I have been using them since they were in beta which I believe is over 2 years. They have like 30K sellers and do millions in sales. They pay fast and their platform is top notch. The founder, Don Wilson is an awesome guy too and responds pretty quickly. He has a very active facebook group where you can get help as well if you need it. I recommend GearBubble.

Hey first off I want to say thanks for taking time out of your day to share some gems with us. I'm planning to launch a few shopify stores next month. My budget to make them successful is $12,000. It's been my goal ever since high school to be able to create a significant amount of residual income with an online business. Do you think with the budget I have, I'll be able to fulfill my goal? I want to be able to make at Least 6k a month profit

Yes it's possible. The key is to find some winners and then scale those winners. Test 3-5 new products per day and make sure you build your custom audience so you can do retargeting. I would stick with one niche before you expand to others. The reason is when people come to your store from your ads they are going to see other related products so you can get free sales. I would recommend shoptimized.com theme plus they have some really great training. Make sure you kill losing products at like 25 bucks unless your stats are really bad. I get the whole niche thing and having tried the Facebook Aliexpress method you will most definitely get plenty of failed product ideas. The problem with a niche store is you are stuck - if you find the niche is no good you have to build out another, if you go a more generic store you can use it for anything you like. What are your thoughts on this?

Do you use any software to find popular products? I saw some software as part of a course that uncovered sponsored posts for product keywords you entered. The thinking behind it was if there were 3, 4, 5 sellers all sponsoring the same product posts it should be selling. The approach is slightly flawed but will provide some indication. What are your thoughts?

Well here is my thought on that. If you have a niche related store then all you branding will be the same from the ad to the purchase. You also have chances for people to browse your store and find other products. It's also better because you are building your pixel as well as your custom audiences. I had a general store and it was so much more work. Trying to target so many different niches takes more time and costs more money but like you say people are doing it this way to. You have to find what works for you. As for finding products I mostly rely on Facebook and searching what's getting tons of comments and shares then following those products and fan pages to see what else they are selling. One tool I can recommend is Adleap. This software allows you to search what ads are doing well on Facebook. But I find myself mostly just doing Facebook searches.

I apologize if you are not spamming your link but when I clicked on it I got a ton of pop ups and had to close my browser. This is not how you promote. It pisses people off. What I would do is add your fb pixel and retargeting them with ads. Go to aliexpress and search for music products. Do some google searches and try to find other stores similar to your and see what they are doing. Do a search for "powered by Shopify" and your niche.

Hi, Firstly I really appreciate your time for doing this.
I am currently attempting Free + Shipping methods in a niche using FB ads.
What is your strategy?
I currently try to run PPE campaigns targeting Behvaior > Online buyers // Interest // Interest
and really narrow down.
Is this a good idea to only target "Behavior > Online buyers"? I haven't seen much about people using this targeting online.

But after getting page visits I plan on starting retargeting ads.
Then after I have made atleast 100 sales I will start Look alike audience using custom audience of those who have only purchased from me and try to make bulk of my sales there.

Is this the tactic everyone is doing because I did not take any course on how to approach this.
So far a lot of A/B testing in many niches but no dice. Maybe I'm cutting off the ads too early?
What is the most significant piece of metric I should be looking out for when cutting an ad that doesn't work?

I recommend you start with something you are passionate about. You will have an advantage because you will already know the lingo, etc. But if you don't want to start that way here is a list of the top passionate niches

1. Political
2. Survival
3. Civil servants
4. Animals
5. Beer and wine

Als do searches to see what niches are popular. Like if you search for necklaces and look at the products with the most likes and share then see what niche.

You can also type interests in Facebook and you will see a ton of niches. Go to Teespring.command they break things down by category. There are so many.

Shopify is awesome but there is a bigger learning curve. I really like gearbubble because it's so easy to get started. Also no monthly fees like you have with Shopify.

How long is required to set up a store that can start to bring a steady in flow of revenue. And how much do you think is required for the setup cost. Also, how many hours does a moderate level store require each week?

Of course you can make a good income with Shopify. But again it comes with a lot of testing to find those winning products. I have known people to find a winning product very quickly and others take much longer. The longer it takes the more money you spend. For each test spend about $25 to see if you can get any sales. Once you have sales you can start scaling. Read my posts above where I talk more detail about this. For Shopify you have setup fees and monthly fees. I would look at gearbubble too as its a faster was to get your feet wet without the costs. I also would recommend shoptimized.com theme if you are going to go the Shopify route

It's a very realistic business. I know people making thousands per day. I'm not at that point yet but I had to take a year off while my daughter fought cancer. But I'm working on this very business model. I will be posting case studies.

As far as free traffic. It's doable but it's a lot of work and takes longer. If you want to go that route I would consider. Spending $5/day building a Facebook group and then have a blog and drive traffic from the fan page to the blog. But paid ads is the quickest way to get things rolling.

I hope this is not too much off topic. My list is just starting to ask about Tee-Spring. Can you recommend a solid basic training program with a decent affiliate program? Either for Tee-Spring or its closest competitor. There used to be many out there, but I spent hours researching. Many have shut down, and so don't have or have stopped their affiliate programs. Any advice would be appreciated.

Teespring has an affiliate program but it's limited. Gearbubble has a pretty good affiliate program too.

First go into audience insights. Type in a broad keyword for your niche. Then drill down. Look for precise smaller interests to test. If the passionate ones don't buy then the broader interests won't. Also look for magazines, brands and things only the most passionate users would know.

For example, if you have a gold product you don't want to target tiger woods because everyone knows him. You want to target the lesser known players that only the passionate people would know about their hobby or sport.

I would recommend clickfunnels.com I'm not sure of any courses on this but I believe they have their own training. You can also google click funnels and I'm sure you can find plenty of info about it. Also look up Ben Adkins, he's the master when it comes to marketing local businesses. He started as a chiropractor and used facebook to get clients and became so good that he closed his practice and now has a multi-million dollar business building software and helping local businesses. Well it comes down to time, money and knowledge. It's much easier to start on a platform like Teepsring or Gear Bubble then graduate to Shopify and build your own brand. Building a brand takes a lot more time and money but that's why most people moved off of Teespring and on to shopify so they could build their own brands and control things better. So the ultimate goal if you really want to do this for the long term is to build a brand but if you are just starting off with ecommerce the platforms make it easy to get your feet wet with a shorter learning curve and less cash outlay. As for me, I'm not really into doing all the work that goes into building a brand. I would rather piggy back off of someone elses brand and just focus on driving traffic and making money. It's all personal preference. Either option you can make a very good living.

Like I have said it's all about testing. You need to test products and find your winner. You also need to make sure you are targeting the right audience for those products that you are testing. If you are just starting I would look at GearBubble or CustomCat which has many more products for Print On Demand. But if you are going to do shopify read every comment I have made in this thread. How do you target the evergreen niche in teespring? Usually there are already a ton of designs out there and as a newbie I'm not even sure I have the experience or the better design or even budget against them
Should I avoid the audience who have already follow a seller fanpage of the same niche to tone down the competition?
Do you design on your own? If so, is there any tips on designing? Do you usually do text design or art?

I would test from the beginning so I can find what's working or not working faster. I would run a PPE ad as well as a Website Conversion ad. I would also test a broad audience and a targeted precise audience. So an audience of say 1 million + and an audience of 300K. I would also launch a video ad. This is going to cost more up front but you are going to know faster if what audience will bring you the sales and you will get more data to help you as you launch new products.

So to test one product you are looking at $30/day ($5/day per adset) Also try testing maybe $10 or $20 per adset. As much as I hate this answer it's the key. You must "TEST, TEST, TEST" to find out what's going to work. This is only to find a winner. Once you have a winner there are even more tests you must do.

Tshirts are not as easy as they were two years ago. You need to have something original and better than what everyone else has. This is why a lot of people have went to physical products because you can always find something cool and new that no one else is promoting yet. I would suggest GearBubble because you can sell mugs and necklaces and then upsell tshirts. I don't lead off with tshirts currently I'm leading with mugs.

Do you design on your own? If so, is there any tips on designing? Do you usually do text design or art?

I sometimes will design my own but I much rather pay someone $100 a week to design full time for me. Designing takes more time than I have so I outsource most of the designs. But at first when I didn't have the money I designed my own shirts. I bought Adobe Illustrator and taught myself how to use it. If you are a designer then you have an advantage but again designing takes time and the more shirts you can launch the faster you will find that winner that will make you the money.

I am set on opening a Shopify store. But I am not totally sold on dropshipping through Aliexpress. The main issues people run into are shipping times, shoddy packaging and customer service. Would you still recommend Aliexpress or go another route? Or go with US supplier?

Most people are using epacket which makes shipping faster. As long as you let people know when their order will arrive they are fine. US suppliers would be great but then you are looking at higher costs and not as much profit. I have not tried any US Suppliers myself. There are a ton of people doing well with Aliexpress but there are also some headaches with it to just like any business. Again that's why I like dealing with the tshirts and mugs because you don't run into all these issues but then you are limited with what you can sell.

I developed my own product in the industry which I currently work. I had a website developed, marketed on facebook which did drive traffic but so far only one conversion. Also tested on ebay with no conversions. Not sure what I'm doing but believe in product and I can do this with a little guidance.

I have started a TeeSpring business for few weeks, I have read a lot of articles and case studies. I founded various ideas for my shirts and I created more than 10 shirts in different niches.

I have spent about 130 dollars in one week on Fb Ads. The first days, I did a wrong targetting so the price of CPC was too high. But in the last Ad I have about 12% in CTR which is so good in TeeSpring Industry. I thought I would make a big deal with this shirt, But even if the CTR is high, I still have no sale.

I want any idea or orientation or ... to improve my business, some days, I tell myself that I should STOP before I spend all the money I have

This game is not a get rich quick game. If you are just starting I would stick to one niche and find designs that have not been beaten to death. Here is an example. Look for a design that has sold a lot or has good engagement in Facebook. Then try and take that same concept into your niche. Make sure it hasn't been done yet and if it has make sure yours is better. The name of the game is testing as many designs as you can to find those winners. You are going to have more losers than winners for sure. Your PPE costs are way to high. Anything over .10 I would kill. One strategy that I'm just learning about but have not testing yet is testing your designs with no link in your ad. Just ask if someone would buy it. If you get a lot of "YES" comments then you know it has a chance of selling. This way you aren't wasting a ton of money on losers. You can test this way for $2/day. I would test with 1 big interest and a group of more passionate interests to see what does gives the best results. Magazines are usually pretty good buying interests. Don't fall in love with your designs. If they don't get engagement then move on.

Hi,

Sometimes Teespring analytics is delayed a bit. What I would do is download the chrome extension pixel helper and then go to Teespring and make sure your pixels are loading. If they are not then you should contact support at teespring and have them look at it. The pixel fires are not always going to be match. As long as you are seeing the sales on Teespring then I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Hey Craig, and thanks for creating this thread. Not looking to s*hit into the campfire or anything, but the problem with drop shipping is that you will most likely to find the same products on Amazon/Ebay or on numerous of other sites (speaking of drop shipping from Aliexpress). As Chinese are selling this stuff directly now you'll have a hard time making it to... anything much to be honest. Sure, you can land a few sales, but there has to be some degree of originality in your model. Let's say you have landed a hefty ~10k or even 50k followers on FB, you are posting relevant stuff, and then you post a picture of a really cool t-shirt you sell (you obviously have a great looking website, everything working as it should). Your followers like it, you'll make a few sales, you'll even boost it and get another sale, but then you look at the conversion rate and uhhh it's ~0.5%. 1000 visitors = 5 sales.

So what's the problem here?

Most likely they'll take that few seconds to copy the headline and paste it to Ebay or Amazon. If a store on Ebay or Amazon has a great rating it will be very tempting to buy from these trusted platforms. As there's competition, you can expect their prices to be lower than yours as well. And the % gets worse when you advertise to those who have not liked your page and they simply like the item. And then comes the Aliexpress. Which is in my opinion controversially murdering the drop ship business. At least 90% of my friends have heard about Aliexpress, and many of them are buying from there regularly. They are far from being internet savvy, Aliexpress is just made for this and people are trusting it. After all, Aliexpress is acting on trends anyway - if you find it on Aliexpress you can be sure this is already trending to some degree.

So in my perspective, straightforward strategy to drop ship from Aliexpress is fading. I would be really glad to hear anyone's opinion on this and how do you mix it/overcome it/market it and so on.

1. Teespring is still very good and I know a lot of people that use them. I just didn't have good luck with them recently. Viralstyle and Represent are both really good platforms as well. Try them all and see who you feel the most comfortable with. I love GearBubble but not everyone does. Some people use GearBubble for necklaces and Teespring for shirts.

2. AdEspresso is good but the one most people use is Qwaya. It's more expensive but really good. I don't really use any of these because I don't like to make things complicated. There is also Trackify and Retargetr both by the same guy.

3. A really good software for research is Teespy. You can search all the top shirts from all the markets. I also just found a new one that is free called: merchresearch.com There is also fb-search.com

3) What other softwares would you recommend to shorten the learning curve and help with research?

Thanks for any help. Last month I left a comfortable six-figure sales job to dive in to internet entrepreneurism (starting with t-shirts). Some say I'm crazy for doing it, but I started to feel crazy for waiting so long...I realized that trading my time for money was taking it's toll on me and my life purpose. I didn't want to NEED a company/employer to make money...I wanted to start on creating my own financial freedom.

So I'm in this to win it, and ultimately I need to be able to produce at least $4K/month in profit to cover my living expenses. Hoping to get there in the next 3 months with hyper focused effort. Any help is much appreciated, there's a world of abundance out there for everyone.

Hello smart sites. I'll appreciate if you can help me. I've been running a PPE ad on facebook which has cost me 200 dollars in total. I think I've hit on a winning t shirt design. It has over 1000 likes and 150 shares plus 10 comments and costs only 0.05. The worrying thing is the low click through rate...0.02% and lack of sales (ZILCH so far). What's my next move as people undeniably like the design a couple have even said they "need it". I have the designs on Sunfrog.

I'd appreciate if you could advise on the next step.

Hi,

There are a few things you need to do.

1. Move that design over to Gear Bubble.
2. Create new Website Conversion Ads
3. Analyze your data. Who is clicking, sharing etc.

Shares and comments don't always mean they will buy. They may like the saying but not the design. I would also test a few different designs with the same saying.

So there are a lot of places you can find design ideas. Here are some ways I find ideas.

1. I'll do a search in Facebook for niche shirt. Then click photos and look for designs with a lot of comments. I will read through the comments and try to find something someone said that could make a good quote for a shirt.

2. Pinterest: Look for quotes with a high amount of repins.

3. Google Images: Just do a search for your niche

4. Teespring: You can search through their designs by niche

5. Etsy: They have some cool ideas.

6. Google Trends: See what's trending. I have seen a lot of good shirts from the election. Things Donald has said or Hillary. An example is when Hillary called the Trump supporters Deplorables. Then you started seeing people wearing shirts saying, "I'm a Deplorable"

Don't always look for shirts but you can look for signs, bumper stickers, pillows, coffee mugs. Try and find something that you can add to a shirt.

Yes product testing is the same whether it's a tshirt or a physical product.
PPE cost can be $5 or it can be $25 or even $50. The best rule to follow is spend no more than 25 bucks to see if you can get a few sales. If not kill it and move on unless you have a ton of comments and shares then maybe let it go a few more days. I have had some take up at 10 bucks and some at 50.

Use audience insights to target interests. Look for passionate pages and also check google for magazines, associations or product brands they would be interested in.

Job titles can work very well if your shirt is targeted to them.

If its the newsfeed ad, do you use your own page to engage? Do you think I should obtain a certain amount of likes before promoting through newsfeed ads?

Always the newsfeed to start but when you get into retargeting ads then I do the right side ads. But again it's all about testing. If you have a winning product it doesn't hurt to try the right hand side ads to see if they work but I have mostly had luck with retargeting.

This is a hard market to go after right off the bat. What I would recommend is targeting dog breeds and build up your audience before you go wide for dogs. You also want to try and find offers that not everyone else is selling. If you are selling the same thing as another seller who has a lot more money than you for ads you are going to lose. Focus on building your fan page your mailing list and your retargeting custom audiences.

Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Blogs. It's all about content. If you can put out good content you can get traffic. I would build a facebook page and a blog and funnel traffic from the facebook page to the blog. Check out fptraffic.com

I have a question from gearbubble. Based from your experience, what is the difference of gearbubble on other platforms like teelaunch or threadmeup? These platforms also fullfill your orders from shopify and they are FREE. Why did gearbubble charge monthly rate for this. Also gearbubble shipping rate is very high compared to these platforms. Lastly, can my costumer order different products from gearbubble? How much they will get charged for this. Example, he bought a hoodie, shirt and mugs items? How do you set this up to your store? There are many competitors and they all have their pros and cons. Gearbubble charges for shopify integration and I don't know why. I don't use it. GearBubble got popular for coming out with bracelets and mugs, allowing you to keep your list and upsells. They are a solid platform. It all depends on who you are comfortable with. I like them so I use them. Threadmeup is good too. Have not used teelaunch.

What is the best method or service that could help you custom print personalized messages on t-shirt? Such as a t-shirt by default says "I Love my Pitbull, Shadow!"
The customer will be able to change "Pitbull" into any breed of dog desired and also replace "Shadow" with their dog's name. Essentially a pre-made design with fill in the blanks.
I see other competitors doing this and I can't get any information on how they are operating and fulfilling this in the back end.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

There is no best niche. It just depends on how well you know the audience and if you can put something in front of them that you know they will need or want. Make sure they are passionate and engage on Facebook. Type in "limited edition" or "free plus shipping" or "tshirt" in the Facebook search. You will then see what products have lots of comments and shares. Look at what niche those are.

The best way is to make sure your audience is dialed in. The more passionate and the more they engage with your ads the cheaper your ad costs are going to be. Video ads are among the cheapest types of ads right now so try those as well. Build a custom audience and do retargeting because those are also cheap ads.

Thanks for offering to help, Craig. I want to have a design-centered Ecommerce store as opposed to most online outlets that are product centered. I want the choice of multiple substrates to be one of the print options available to any given design. How do I make my art the customer's principle selection, rather than than a tshirt or a pair of leggings. I'm looking at Shopify/Printful. I've been told by Printful support that it's not possible. There is an app called personalize but all that does is let people fill in custom forms and then you still have to personalize it. It's a lot of work but can be done. CustomCat app is coming out with something but I have not seen it yet. GearBubble also does personalize but it's limited to two fields.

There will always be people who need to learn and who will pay to shorten there learning curve. Tell me what makes more sense if you have the knowledge and ability to create a course one time and then sell if over and over and over or work hard every day trying to sell tshirts or products? I'm telling you if you have the ability to create a course you can make some really good money. You can also make good money selling shirts and mugs. But you must know how to sell shirts and mugs before you can make a course.

Hi smartsites and Thanks for sharing all the experiences you had with us. I also want to wish your daughter and your family the best wishes on battling cancer. It really can put a damper on things in life, but staying strong and thinking positive really can help in these situations. I hope all is well!

Anyways I’ll give a brief run down on my plan and see if you can chime in. I have a specific group of individuals that I know will like my t-shirts and accessories that I have in a specific niche. My problems are finding a designer, and finding a reliable person to make the shirts and accessories.
I looked into teespring to see if that would fulfil my needs, but was wondering how you estimated how many shirts you would create as your goal in order to make a decent profit.
I would much rather go down the branding route in my situation, and use shopify then create my own website and dropship to my customers.
Is teespring and gearbubble the only t-shirt drop shippers?
Once I get this all figured out then driving traffic to my site is next, but I read all of the post and you really did an great job telling us how to do it…. It’s just incorporating it in the process which I might need a hand on getting started.

This is a tough question. Facebook ads is all about learning your audience and when you run ads you are buying data and building a custom audience. You want to study your data and know whose clicking, whose engaging and test test test. You must test different interests, different ad types, different calls to action etc. When you say you have spent more than $500 can you give me some details? How many ads did you run, how long did you run them, what was the budget, did you increase the budget? Did you get any sales at all? Do you have a fan page? What's the engagement on your ads? What is the quality score? What's the cpm, ctr etc. All these metrics need to be understood so you can figure out if it's a targeting problem or a product problem. How do you find your products? Is there a lot of competition? As you can see it's not so simple as just throwing up an ad.

I have a question though re text limits on FB adverts - seen random comments out there that suggest this has pushed up advertising costs, made tee shirts that bit harder to sell. What is your experience please?

Well I think you are talking about the 20% text rule. This is only for your ad and has nothing to do with the wording on the shirt itself. Sometimes Facebook will mistake the words in your shirt for ad text. You just have to shrink the shirt down till Facebook accepts it. Google 20% text tool and you can upload your ads to test.

How do you know it's your targeting? You need to be careful with Sunfrog because many people are selling the same thing. If you are going to go into shirts you need to have unique designs. As far as finding your audience here is what I recommend.

1. Target passionate pages in your niche. Find pages that have tons of comments and shares on all their posts and that are very active.

2. Target magazines and or product brands

3. Target both narrow and broad audiences

4. Test your products with a PPE ad before you even try to sell them. Don't put a link in your post. Only ask them a question like if they would buy it to comment "YES" If you get a post with a lot of Yes then you know it has a chance. If you get no engagement then chances are it will not sell and you should move on to test new design.

5. Find a product in your niche that is selling well and search through the comments. Find people who said they bought it. Visit that persons profile and look at their likes and try to find new pages you can target. This takes time but you can find some hidden gold.

6. Use Google to search for things like.. Top websites for niche, Niche magazines, Niche Associations.

7. Use Facebooks ads manager. When you put in a few interests it will automatically suggests new interests for you.

Targeting is very important but if you have an amazing product it will sell even with bad targeting.

any other ideas?
on amazon i like the fact that they have feedback, any sites like that?
as for shopity, is there an option without the deliever and customer support like affiliate program?
for gearbubble, i saw there is an option to sell phone case but they have cases only for few models, do you know a better one without minimum orders and more phone cases models?

I would start a fan page in this niche. Post products from Aliexpress. You can also use Ebay. Check out watchcount.com

If you are on shopify you can use teelaunch and customcat to find more products to sell.

I'm just opening a shopify store - it is a multi-niche store ... I'm going to use mail champ for email marketing. With multiple niches I don't know how to set up specific subscriber lists for each niche ... With shopify when someone automatically goes to your order page and they get dumped into your mail chimp list. Problem is I have different niches so not sure how to set that up? I don't really recommend a multi-niche store but if you are going to do this there are services that can segment out your email list. The are very pricey so I'm not sure how many sales you are doing if it would make sense for you. I'm not familiar with mail champ. I am familiar with Mail Chimp maybe you meant that? If you did I don't think they can do what you want to do.

The one service that I think can do it is Klavio. It's a shopify app.

Targeting is all about the niche. Also you don't have much time to sell Halloween. I think the 18th is when most print on demand stores say is the deadline for people to get their shirts in time. So here is an example. I have a dog breed niche and I created a Halloween shirt. I target them the same because I know the like this dog and I know Halloween is coming up. I woudn't try to target Halloween interests because everyone loves Halloween. Maybe target parents with young kids. But I would stay with whatever niche you are in. If you aren't in a niche and you just want to target halloween for costumes or something I would target the big Halloween stores like Spirit. Hope that helps

How do you deal with Chinese New Year with AliExpress products?

Say I found great rated sellers/products and shipped with epacket.. I would hate to be good 95% of the time but then have angry customers the other 5% as that 5% could potentially damage the brand.

I could potentially announce the delay on my website... but is there any other way around that?

Not sure why you would want to do this. A virtual assistant can help you design products, or upload products but you don't want them ordering for you. But to find virtual assistants you can do it via upwork.com

What are your thoughts on back linking for a Shopify niche? I understand that back links are important for SEO. However, it looks like most Shopify store focus on Facebook Ads. I'm also finding that some back link methods are very time consuming. Should I continue to have back linking as a strategy?

Backlinking and SEO is always important for long term and free traffic but you are right Facebook is the #1 source of traffic for people running Shopify stores. Instagram influencers is also becoming a good source of traffic.

Hi Craig,

A friend of mine is up to 6,000,000 views a month on Youtube and has a very warm audience of about half a million subscribers. He's wanting to sell t-shirts, bumper stickers, and gear to his fans through his site. I know all about wordpress sites and woocommerce but I'm not sure what the best route would be to do the dropshipping. I'd like to keep the entire system automated so him and I aren't wasting our time printing and shipping ourselves.

Is there a system that would allow the user to purchase through the wordpress site, the order gets sent to the dropshipper, and the company mails the product directly to the customer as if it was from us?

What company have you found has the lowest prices so that we could make the most profit from sales? It's awesome what you're doing thanks in advance =)

You can't really target children of parents who work in X. You can only target parents in an occupation and say. Share this with your kids or get this for your kids.

There are a few ways but the main way is via Facebook ads. Create a fan page and post your shirt on it. Then run a small $2/day PPE ad to it to see if anyone engages with it. I would do something like this.

ATTENTION: Nurses (your niche) Would you wear this?
Be one of the first 100 people to comment and receive 30% off
Type "YES" in the comments to get your discount.

Do not put a link because all you are doing is testing. If you get a lot of Yes comments then edit the post, put your link in and run a WC optimized for add to cart.

Also private message everyone that said yes with their discount.

You can also join related groups and share your shirt there. Make sure you ask the Admin first.

Another way is by partnering with a Fan page that has a lot of fans and splitting the commission with them.

One other way is by buying shoutouts on a related Instagram account.

Those are the main ways.

To be honest I don't do Aliexpress. But I know many that do and they say for the small amount of returns they get they just eat it. Usually the customer ends up buying something else. I mean usually you are only paying a few bucks for an item anyway so why go through the hassle? That's what I would do as well. As for Print On Demand if you use a platform like Gear Bubble or Teespring they deal with that for you.

There is no real way to answer this question. There are so many variables. You never know when you are going to find a winner. You may find one right a way or it may take you several failed campaigns. What I can tell you is that you should only spend about $20 per campaign to test. If it doesn't sell in $20 move on. As for shopify you have several monthly charges which come up to around $100+/mo. I wouldn't recommend it starting out. What some do is use platforms like Gear Bubble or Teespring and once they find a winner they start up a shopify store.

Do I have your process right ?

1) Find a niche and it's associated audience size (if an acceptable size move on)
2) Get a design made up with help from fiverr, upwork or any other freelance site
3) Upload design to gearbubble. Starting with a coffee mug, then offer upsells of Tees. hoodies etc
4) Run test ads from facebook to that product
5) If successful, i.e. you get sales sales, scale it up or if you don't, go back to step 2

For no 3, do you upload to other forms of products, like tees immediately or wait to see some results from the coffee mugs first?

Printful is good buy pretty expensive compared to Gear Bubble. Again it's all about testing. You need to analyze your data and figure out who your buyers are. Don't get stuck on your design. It may be good but if it's not selling then it's time to try another one. I would try at a minimum one new design / campaign per day. The more campaigns you run the faster you are going to find that winner. Remember you will have way more losers than winners. You know the person with the most home runs also has the most strikes. No question is silly. If you are asking it I'm sure someone else is thinking it. Shopify is not a drop shipper. They are a platform. They are the way you can take payments for your products. You must then find a drop shipper. Aliexpress is drop shippers.

You can also like all your competitors pages and visit top selling shirts so you can get retargeted.

I also like to search for Niche tshirts in Facebook and look for highly engaged ones.

hi bro ,

i have problem im new in Ecommerce as a dropshipper , i have build a shopify store , took an outdoor hobby products and try to took some product from aliexpress in order to promote them in my store but i have 2 problems :
A/ i have only paypal as payment method so alot of sellers from aliexpress refuse to deal with me so i dont have a large choice of products .
B/some times a took time to do research and i choose the product from aliexpress that give me a good profit comparing of prices normal in ebay and amazon , but when i check again i find that the same item is cheap on ebay and amazon so the product in amazon and ebay is cheaper than my store price .

what you propose bro as a solution in order to get good product with good profit and marge and put it in my store .

You can't worry about what others are selling for. You are targeting your audience direct. You are looking for the impulse purchase. They are not going to be price shopping you. Again if you read my thread I recommend starting off with Gear Bubble so you don't run into these issues. Once you have built an audience and found some winning products you can add to your shopify store and test more items.

Shipping depends on when you end your campaign. All my Gear Bubble campaigns end in 1 day. That way if I have sales they will be shipping much faster. If you set a campaign for 7 days then it's going to take longer. If you go with Aliexpress your customers will be waiting for 3 weeks or longer. You can go with Alibaba and order in bulk and ship yourself which would be much faster. I don't want the hassle so I don't do that.

How do I determine whether to kill or scale CPA offers with Facebook ads, Lets say I have a simple $2 email submit I want to promote, With a $5-10 per day budget. How do i determine whether or when to kill it or scale? is it after $3 spent and no conversions? Is it after 100 clicks? Is it after 48-72 hours and a CTR below %5? Please help bcuz this has me pulling out my hair.

Hi,

I usually go by money in vs money out. If you spend $20 with no sales then move on. But I have not done cpa so it may be different. Remember you are also buying data. Try to build a custom audience that you can market new offers to.

I have a question: would you recommend me to use Printful + Shopify? I have read a lot of negative and positive comments, so I don't know what to do

I have not used RedBubble. I use GearBubble but if you are using Shopify I would use CustomCat. They have great prices and it's only $30/mo for the app. I have not used Printful but have heard good things about them. The only negative is they are higher priced than others. Teespring + Shopify I have not used.

I don't really know of any of the platforms that do Spanish because I have not needed it but I'm sure there are some. Just do a Google Search for spanish campaigns on the following platforms. Teespring, GearBubble, Viral Style, Represent, SunFrog, Shopify and see what comes up. You can probably hire someone from upwork.com to translate your products to spanish.

ive recently had my 4th back surgery and have basically lost my career from it....with our nation as divided as it is, i thought of starting some t-shirt campaigns on teespring and using facebook ads......my question is so i build my own website as my brand and post my shirts on that site and just link it to teespring? so people think they are ordering from you're site but it is really linking to teespring..... that's how it works right? i am a complete novice when it come to this.....any help would be appreciated. stressful times when u are trying to figure out how to provide for youre family....i am selling a bread route that i am no longer able to work and i should have about 50k to invest after my wife rips the other 50k to put in the bank..... if teespring goes well, should i consider selling other items on shopify....i can surely use you're help sir if you are willing to.....typing this from a hospital bed lol, trying to see the whole god has a plan for all of us bullshit, doesnt work when u look at you're 8yr old daughter figuring out what you are going to do......thanks for listening. appreciate it.

Shopify actually has their own training which is really good. You can also search youtube for shopify training. Shopify has support too. Its the best ecommerce platform right now.

You can learn to drive traffic from FB ads. You can go to youtube and search for facebook ads. I'm not sure if Shopify teaches ads but you can check.

Is there any way to have FB ads target parents of children who do ____ (occupation, hobby, etc)?

Trying to nail down my audience and get as specific as possible, but I only want to focus on those that I can target with FB ads. Very new to this (both FB ads and t-shirt selling, although have an extensive background in affiliate marketing and SEO)

What tou could do is target the kids of occupation and say buy this for your mm or dad? Do you have a proud firefighter mom? Get her this shirt! You could also target parents who also like firefighter interests but i think the other way would be better.

How would I target people whose parents have a certain occupation?

And is there any way to correlate grandparents-grandkids based on either one's present (or past if retired) occupation?

I have a question about Facebook Advertising:
I've heard a couple of gurus talk about training Facebook to target your ads for you so that the successful conversion exposure keeps increasing basically on autopilot.

From what I can gather it sounds like they may be starting by optimizing for one thing, and then eventually changing it to be optimized for conversions, at which point the autopilot part takes off and continues increasing exposure.

Is this something that you're familiar with? (If the question even makes sense lol)

Hi, I am planning to make a shopify - aliexpress business.. I've heard paypal sometimes freezes paypal accounts. How can I order items on aliexpress if I can't get the money from my paypal? Have you experience this or is there a workaround?

This has not happened to me yet but I have heard of it happening. It happens usually when you are selling something that is trademarked. There are a lot of trademark items being sold on Aliexpress and you want to stay away from those. Personally I would stick with Print on demand companies like GearBubble, Teespring or Viralstyle.

  Hi. I guess you should instead be asking yourself what do you need them to be "best" at. Is it a better commission per tshirt sold? Shipment? Interface? Easier to use?
  
  What you should instead be asking yourself is where will your designs sell the best. You can infer this by looking at the top sold t-shirts on each site and at the UGC that customers upload to social media. Hope this helps.

I saw a review from SiteJabber, most of people/customers angry & frustrated about GearBubble site that not delivered their purchased stuffs from GearBubble site.

That's actually make me worry. I afraid after made a lots of sales but then customers start back charge due to not getting their purchased.

I Am very happy to have found your post. I have read a couple the following books, dotcomsecrets and neuromarketing to gain a clear picture of how to make it interesting for buyers. I found a lot of free things on youtube and a very nice mastermind course on Aliexpress, Facebook Ad and Shopify.
My Budget is of $1000. for Shopify Store and Facbook Ads. I want to start in the Martial Arts niche, which doesn't show to be very profitable but also it seems unexplored.
I have also thought on putting Dropshipping on the side and look into Affiliate Marketing but i will be putting away six months of preparation.
Can you help me stare in the right direction?

Just starting out I would choose a niche that you are familiar with. That way you know what they buy and what they like. I wouldn't start with shopify first because of all the setup and fees. I would start with either GearBubble or Teespring. You can launch shirts and mugs really quick. You can test each design at $20 per design so you could test 50 designs for $1000. The hope is that you would find a few winners that you could then focus on and scale.

Hey there! Great post i have gotten so much insight. Can't thank you enough, i've even started my own campaign and store.

So i followed your guideline with strong a ppe ad first with no link, and one of my ad sets is having great engagement! I have a bunch of people commenting yes i do want to buy! So i duplicated the ad set with a link now.

Both ads have been up for about 2-4 days

Now my problem is that no one yet has bought. I have sent a message with purchase link and nothing so far either. So i'm not sure if i should create a wc ad, scale the ppe ad, or what since i have no purchases yet. My webpage was optimized for conversions so i do not think is that.

I know i am very close to finding the winning ad but how can i bridge from high engagement to purchase.

Then from there what would be the next step on how you scale your camps.

Please let me know your stats. How many yes comments, how many shares. What is your CTR. How many link clicks. How much are the link clicks. What is your CPM? What is your reach and what is your relevancy score?

I created a custom column breakdown.

The first image is the performance breakdown of the ad sets that have no link attached but included (comment YES if you want this)

The second image is the performance breakdown of the ad sets with a purchase link attached, i've had these ad sets running from 1- 3 days. (removed the comment YES if you want this)

The cost per engament is from .4 to .7 per ad set that i have running

Both are PPE ads

Stats aren't really showing me much.

You don't have a lot of link clicks.

How many ads, how many sales, how much have you spent on each ad? What is the difference between the two ppe ads?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. If you are asking for an email system I would recommend mailchimp. I would email your customers when you have new items and also discount codes. Also email your customers for a contest and ask them what they want. I hope this helps.

1. Outsourcing helps so much. I have outsourced designers as well as people to help me do research, create ads, post to my fan page etc. All the things that are time consuming. this allows me to focus on finding designs and products and to analyze my ads. I have found good workers from craigslist philipines, manila and upwork.com

2. Not sure what you mean by tools. When I was using shopify I used customcat, teelaunch, shopifiedapp, and many more.

3. Not sure what you mean by strategies for conversions. The goal is to run ads, build custom audiences, build you pixel and create look alike audiences. In order to do this you have to test a lot of things. You must test different products, targeting, ad types, genders and age groups until you find your buyers. If your pixel is new then you should focus on view content and when you get 100 or more of those do an add optimized for add to cart then when you get 100 do an ad optimized for purchase. Then create look alike audiences. This takes some time and some money but this is not a get rich quick business.

I am a complete beginner and I got few questions here. So, I am interested in Teespring, Aliexpress, shopify and affiliate marketing, also I am currently learning about facebook ads.

So, If i want to use facebook ads as my main source of traffic which platform is the best to start as a total beginner?

How to do a market research? So I can now are the items that i want to sell will make a sale or not?

Last maybe a bit out of your area of expertise, do you do affiliate marketing? Does affiliate marketing works with FB ads? and will it be possibly the best way to start as a total beginner?

I don't do affiliate marketing. You have to be careful doing it with Facebook. If you are doing it then drive traffic to a blog first and then build a list and market via email. As for shirts I would recommend GearBubble. Shopify and Aliexpress is a lot of work and you have to pay monthly fees. I would focus on Mugs from GearBubble.

Community works for sure. It's just a longer process to build and you need to make sure you have a super passionate audience. I prefer running ads because I can get results faster but even if you do choose to run ads you still want to build a community.
