Walmart making changes to compete with amazon

A while back Walmart expnded their online offerings by adding third party sellers. It wasn't long before there were issues as all had different return policies and Walmart stood behind none of them.

That has changed in the past few months. Walmart has begun offering closes to the same easy returns as Amazon is known for.

Items featured in the stores can be returned to the store - you can print out a bar code on your acct - and presenting that with the items generates a refund.

For third party sellers - you can now generate a shipping label THROUGH the WM site and there seem to be standardized requirements for returns. I don't know if this is true in all departments but it's a positive move.

May not seem like much change - but tells me Walmart plans to give Amazon a run for it this shopping season. They already compete in price but adding an ease of return is upping the customer service game in a big way.

I've been waiting for a couple of years hoping WM adds international shipping.

We buy stuff from Amazon all the time but many things we want/need can't or aren't shipped here.

One thing that Amazon recently added is free shipping for purchases over $60. Not all products are covered by that, from what I can see it's stuff sold by Amazon through Amazon vs. 3rd parties, but the shipping is as fast as what we used to pay for.

I'm looking forward to a little competition.

I heard about 6 months ago that Walmart's subscription service is designed to be a direct competitor to Amazon's Prime membership! Watch both Amazon and Walmart's stock as Walmart has the infrastructure both physical and digital to give Amazon a run for its money!

Target also has third party sellers on their site, although, only big players need apply. I would imagine they will be the next to invite select small sellers in the future

This is an OLD thread - but since it was bumped interesting note:

FTC is going after Walmart and Kohl's for misrepresenting fabrics in bedding - claims of 'bamboo' when rayon was the fabric.

This will probably be very costly to settle. It is the result of low end (cost wise) retailers trying to compete with high end brands and takng short cuts to do so. Wonder how the timing works - these products are not new - have been advertised for at least a couple years that I've seen.

My ducks are absolutely not in a row. I don't even know where some of them are...
...and I'm pretty sure one of them is a pigeon.

Sorry about bumping. The post was only halfway down the page so I thought it was relatively new. I didn't think to look at the date

As long as you are adding info rather than just posting an "I agree" - no biggie at all. Some of the threads are ongoing due to new information released.
