There are numerous marketplaces for different things. Can Google eventually consolidate some or all of them? Is there any commercial benefit to doing so?

In a sense google is the main marketing hub because every one searches before they go to websites and buy things .

I don't think they'll cosume all the market share especially seeing they have to compete with Amazon .

Google sort of started this with the marketplace listings that you have to pay for as part of adwords. However I think they would run into very serious anti-trust issues if they tried to take over marketplaces and directly compete against amazon.

So while they'll allow sellers to have special listings (by paying for that) I think it is unlikely they'll actually attempt to consolidate marketplaces themselves. They have enough anti-trust issues already without adding that to the heap.

It is possible that Google could consolidate some or all of the various marketplaces that currently exist, but it would likely be a complex and challenging endeavor. Consolidating different marketplaces would require significant resources and investment, as well as a thorough understanding of the various marketplaces and how they operate. In addition, there may be legal and regulatory challenges to overcome in order to merge the different marketplaces.

Google will always have its hand in the pot since people search things to purchase on Google, but it would never consolidate all of the marketplaces. Too much competition from independent companies.
