    Hi riken,

Well it depends what you want commercial or open-source.

Commercial can guarantee you that you will save, because they care about you to be spam free.

    Commercial: Aweber, Getrespond, etc.

Open source: php list is open source, stand alone very useful and simple, which is very worthy to invest if you are beginner

It must be helpful and let me know if you have another questions

If you want to stay with WordPress, I used Wysija with good results. I used the MailChimp plugin, too, but it worked out better if I just used a text/html widget and added the signup form code directly in there.

Now-a-days most of the people are using open source. So, If you are using word press then you should continue with it.

Get any open source plug in that you can customize according to your need.

I like Wysija as well because it's free. If your in a position to pay Aweber is the way to go.

If you want to host it yourself, newsletter with autoresponder, it might be worth taking a look at a new plugin over at codecanyon.com called MyMail. I haven't tried it myself, but it's getting positive reviews and the autoresponder feature was just added. Seems the developer is listening to the feedback, price $25.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm trying Wysija, looks really interesting the only thing I don't like is that you can't send the ppl to an specified url after they subscribe

The plugin that BeechHill said sounds good too! I suppose it's a good idea to host your own mailing list only if this is not to big, Am I right?

You're going to get a lot of arguments from both sides on this.

Most IMs are using a third party commercial service, like Aweber or GetResponse, mainly because that's all they know or have been told, but I believe you can be just as successful hosting your own. If you're not out there spamming your list, use double opt-in and have your own IP address, then there is no reason to expect your delivery rate should be any less than that of the autoresponder providers and with no more problems or work in doing it yourself. There is also an option to go with in the future to have your mail sent through services like SMTP.com when the list gets large enough. The big plus, is you control the list and how its used.

The downside is that if you're looking to use some third party plugins designed for use with some of these commercial autoresponder providers they may not have an option for a self hosted mailing service.

I suggest using Aweber - it's not free, but it means your messages will not get caught in the spam filter of most inboxes, which is important if you want people to actually read your emails
