Has anyone tried building an eCommerce site using Squarespace? They recently announced this huge feature: Squarespace Commerce is Here — The Official Squarespace Blog

I say "huge" because eCommerce support is something Squarespace customers have been requesting for years now. I currently use WordPress for my Amazon affiliate website, but I am interested in trying Squarespace for another niche.

So, thoughts? Yay or nay?

  • It depends... Is it 1, 2 or 3 products? Then it might be worthwhile but then again, if you are comfortable with wordpress, why not stick with it.

If you are looking at a full store, I still think you are better off using a hosted cart. Squarespace charges an extra 24 bucks a month for the ecommerce with limited options. You can do Shopify or BigCommerce for the same or less and get a full established shopping cart solution.

    Just my thoughts.

    • Agreed. I'm definitely very happy with using WordPress and WP Zon Builder. As for the actual niche, I'm still not sure. My current store sells a wide variety of tech products, which does fairly well. I am looking to narrow things down with this second niche.
    • I'm looking for a squarespace expert. A friend of mine uses it for his website and his site needs a lot of help, can someone kindly email him at jkocat5@me.com his site is jameskevinoconnor.com
    • Seconded. The other thing to note is that going this route will likely have you faring better in terms of reliability, scalability, functionality, and support.
