Looking for some help in regard for running a complete business in the cloud. I got a web hosting package from 1and1 and using opencart. I have setup 90% of the site and just working on cosmetics now.

Here is what I am not sure what to do or what to use. I would like to integrate everything so I dont have to manually export import things. for example, inventory, shipping, accounting.

would like to know what plugin or solution I can use to integrate inventory to my site, how to monitor and deal with shipping, shipping labels, invoices etc. and lastly deal with accounting side of things, tax, debit credit and other things related to accounting. so I beleive I have a good handle on the technical side of the ecommerce site as far as the actual site is concerned, now I am trying to figure out how to do the non technical side like logistics and accounting etc.

would like to use a product that has everything in one package, i am not tied to opencart, open to using other platform if its a complete solution.

by the way, the site is about women's jewelry.

thanks in advance

farid

I suggest you not to prefer any product as you said 90% of the work has been completed already. Please let me know whether you are planning to integrate CRM or any warehouse application to feed products online.

Please send me a PM so that I can suggest you a better solution on this.

I would have suggested an ecommerce platform like Shopify or Bigcommerce to be honest as they have everything built in that you will need to run your business. Those two are quite big and well supported with integrations etc. but the list is endless.

I don't believe one package will ever do anything, and some will simply be better suited to your type of business than others so it's a case of trialling a few options. If you haven't launched yet, I would consider doing this.

    Best of luck!

      Hi faridkhan,

The reason Magento shopping cart is the most popular cart in the industry is because it has all the things you are seeking integrated (and it is open source). As the most widely used shopping cart, it also has the largest number of extensions, and most 3rd party services seek to integrate to the Magento cart ahead of all other platforms.

The downside of using a cart like Magento is that it has so much already built in, and is so extensible, that it will take a bit longer to learn how to use all of those extra built in features.

This is a good advice that all first time ecommerce entrepreneurs should consider. There's always time when you get big to develop your own IT platform/team.

I suggest you stay away from trying to automate inventory, etc. First, I have had nothing but problems when trying to automate your inventory from a supplier. Second, if you want to achieve good seo, you need to write unique product titles and descriptions. Third, by actually doing work, and visiting your website daily, and updating it daily, you will help your website have unique content that search engines will pick up on.

I use opencart....................I sell lots of product daily and it works great!

    Good Luck.

This is all very simple, at the smallest level you have online solutions which integrate multi-channel which provide 0-50% increase efficiency and if you use the tools correctly up to 100-200%. Shopify/BigCommerce sit in the 0-50% range, Magento CE 100-200%.

At the other end are SAP which is the largest integrated business automation platform for Fortune 500 companies, it provides 1,000% increases in efficiency. Then there is everything else in-between which are basically pick-and-mix integrating the various platforms together.

So, it depends what you want to achieve, if you want to look 3-5x bigger than you are you need to mix various platforms together with optimised business processes, if you are happy with it being the effort you put in is the revenue you get out you can use Shopify with a multi-channel SaaS solution.

That is all it comes down to in the end, how much efficiency the automation will give you to make more revenue! Each person will see it differently - but as we use solutions designed by SAP architects we get to see it all from 1,000% down.

You have to take best of breed solutions and integrate them together - however the integration process is more complex and you need to keep cleaner base installs - something that most small business retailers and small business service providers have a hard time doing.

Well, In my opinion, the OpenKat is a good platform for those who are thinking about to start up an eCommerce business. If you want for your business at a big level, then you should prefer the Magento platform. Because, the features and integrated service are fabulous, if you go to Magento platform.
