Dropshipper sites as a church fundraiser, need advice and input please

I am looking into ideas for fundraising for my church.

Last year I went around to local businesses and got many of them to donate gift cards or products which we auctioned off. So this year I want to do something different and I thought about setting up a Dropshipper site. All profits would be given to the church.

I want a pre-built site with a variety of products. I simply don't have the time to create a site right now. We don't have to be as cheap as Amazon but I don't want to be gouging people either. Ideally I'd like a Dropshipper that would let me set my own prices but I have found that hard to come by when you want the site already done for you.

My biggest concern here is I don't want my fellow congregation members to get ripped off. I look at the reviews for wholesale2b and dropshippers.com and there are many complaints about them. They have nice looking done for you sites but I get nervous about the potential problems.

I would appreciate and advice and feedback you all may have. If you know of another Dropshipper that has done for you sites and a good reputation please share it. Thanks much.

If you are interested, I would be willing to help setup and host your website, as well as share/setup products from drop-shippers that I have used for years and trust. I would be willing to do it 75%+ cheaper than any of the websites you mentioned, and you would have control over your own prices. - I may even be willing to do almost no up-front fee, but I would have to discuss this idea with you.

    Please IM me.

  • One more thing for clarification. I am only looking to sell the products to members of my church and their friends, not the general public. Thanks.

That can be done, but it would have to be a members only website (meaning that you would have to manually approve each member before they could login and purchase anything).

But, I would suggest you at least think about selling to the public.......if you are drop shipping, it would be beneficial for your church financially. Again, just my suggestion.

To be honest, I think you are better off doing an affiliate store over a dropshipping store. Set up a website with an amazon affiliate links to the products you want to showcase and you will save yourself a ton of hassle and actually get preferential pricing compared to one of those "all in one" dropshipping sites. It will be less maintenance, less hassle and your partitioners will be getting good prices for what they are buying.

    • Thanks for that, I have thought about just being an affiliate. The problem with Amazon is that I live in Minnesota and I'd have to incorporate in another state. Minnesota is one of those banned Amazon affiliate states. The other thing I suppose I could do is to set up the church as an affiliate, as it is a non profit. But I didn't want to go through the hassle. I'll explore the idea.

My friend, I'd stick with this plan until you do more research on drop shipping. This is what my wife has done for our congregation the past 2-3 years. It's safe, people are familiar with the local businesses, it actually helps the local businesses by bringing in people who may have never tried their product or service before and you'll likely already have repeat donors that have helped you in the past. That's a much safer and easier solution.

I urge you to stick to what you know, at least for now. If you'd like help learning the industry I'd be happy to help you in the right direction for next time - at no charge.

    Kind regards,

    Joe
