How reluctant is someone do you think to purchase from your site when Paypal is the only form of payment accepted?

How many sales do you think it is costing?

It's costing you 100% from countries that don't accept PayPal.

Other than that, it's not the issue it used to be. PayPal is pretty flexible, you can customize your checkout page so the people who don't have a PayPal account can just pay with a credit card.

Personally I've found PayPal to be a greater boost to getting sales, as many people regard the money in their PayPal account as "extra money" - and they spend it more willingly. It also eliminates having to create yet another "account" with a website and fork over your payment info. If given the choice on a website between PayPal and credit card, I will use PayPal every time.

Great insight....I agree about the extra spending $ just laying around in a Paypal account...

I think this is the way most people see it. Paypal has traditionally always been an account folks used for selling stuff on Ebay - so without a clearing process, naturally money remains in the account from time to time.

I think today, Paypal is quite a strong brand itself and it definitely will help conversion rates as it add's credibility to your store.

I think I am seeing it the same way....do you think there is a different way I should be processing payments vs Paypal?

I am also assuming you mean PayPal Standard where you check out at PayPal, not on your website. Otherwise, PayPal Pro can act as your merchant account and its pretty much transparent to the customer. It is what I use for my commerce stores and haven't had an issue yet.

Maybe that is the issue for me. I am not using Paypal Pro...
