Email marketing in a nutshell

1. Drive targeted traffic to capture page
2. Offer something for free in exchange for email
3. Send them a good free product that the average person in that niche would pay for
4. Offer OTO that is low expense and high quality
5. Send 7-10 follow up emails with quality content
6. Offer a higher end product that is also great value.

Thoughts? I am trying to map out a business plan and would appreciate detailed steps if you think I should adjust this formula.

Thanks guy

Another very important point could be, to seek customers feedback on regular basis.

    Thanks,

Send them the free gift in the welcome email and have a thank you page that says "Your ebook is on its way, check out this OTO offer while you wait...."

E-mail marketing isn't just the number games. We have to prove our worthiness.

A lot of e-mail marketers do marketing like some guys woo girls. Talk them once and then send them a dirty di** pic and hope girls get hungry out like that... Marketers do the same with their sale offer and both groups will be rejected.

Put your manhood/sale offer into where it belongs, for now. First provide value and something special no one else has and you will get surrounded with people who want to give everything you desire.

But this is how I have started to understand it. Talking less about you, but more about what customer cares.

Yeah I think a lot of what you say makes sense. But sometimes at the beginning it is good to talk about yourself, like who you are, your story, your bio, etc.. This lets them become more familiar with you , and it is the crucial introduction into building a solid rapport with them.

Remember this it holds so true..................
      1. Let them know who you are and what you are about
2 Hopefully, they become more personal with you and start to like you
      3. This starts the Trust building stage
      4. Once they Trust you and you have built credibility with them they start to Buy from you.
      5. You sell great stuff then they become 'mad' loyal buyers

Yes it's true you have to provide value to your subscribers first, but that does't mean you can't make sales immediately.

Let's say you create a funnel teaching people the best ways to become an affiliate marketer. While they read your follow up, you can recommend them products you use in your own business to make life easier, or to speed up the process.

You have to find the middle road imo. There are two extremes:
-> Sending one promo after another as soon as somebody subscribes
-> "Waiting" X amount of days before sending out a promotion.

I say ditch these concepts, and create a funnel in which you teach your subscribers something that will help their business, while at the same time making money by promoting products that will help them out.

Consider the fact that the people on your list have a life, they don't want to see your email come through each and everyday. Furthermore, they more than likely belong to more than one list, therefore it's highly likely that they get quite a few emails from various companies on a regular schedule. By keeping your emails limited to 3 or less per week, you'll be showing them respect and will be less likely to lose a valuable contact.

Many multi -million dollar List Builders ( Matt Bacak, Shawn Casey, Ben Settle, Charlie Page to name a few) would absolutely disagree with this assertion.

In fact these people are two (sometimes 3) a day emailers

I talked to Matt and Shawn. Their mentality is that if they do not email their List EVERYDAY they do not get paid on that day. Simple as that they say.

Bottom line : You can talk about building rapport and worrying about Unsubscribes and complaints but the facts are plain as day and the guys making the most money are the ones that email EVERYDAY.

(Note this mostly pertains to IM and MMO niche)

            Yeah Joe,
The fitness niche and many other Niches it may be advisable to email on a more selective level

            I do not doubt that.

As I noted I was referring mostly to IM niche.

    Joe- nice model/blueprint here...

I agree with Robert Andrews... email often and it's about building a relationship with that list.

I will tell you how a friend told me... who also is a million dollar marketer:

As long as you keep more people coming in than going out, you have
    a publishing business.

    Hope that helps!

It has been said before but nothing is written in stone. Test test and test and see what works for you and your list

    A few little thoughts ...

    (i) I've never offered an OTO. (I'm an affiliate, myself, so I'd hate to start off by doing that, and looking like "just another marketer" rather than primarily "a provider of valuable information").

(ii) Regarding the "good free product", I think this is the single most important factor to affect open-rates: make it specifically a "good free product" that serves all these purposes.

(iii) I wouldn't limit the email series to 7-10 emails, myself (I have some lists from which I make more income from the emails after the 15th than from emails 1-15. If you're thinking of affiliate marketing - which I think you are? - be aware that in successful affiliate marketing, most of the long-term income comes from repeated sales to the same captive audience. It's a real relationship-building business.)
