I am by no means an expert, but I know what works for me.

yes, making youtube videos when done correctly would be a great part of your overall marketing plan that should include other things like article, social, and forum marketing.

You have to figure out what works for you. There are others on here who say adswaps, solo ads, PPC, etc.

I personally start with free traffic, though.

Good luck.

Artcle marketing (the way I do it, though)

Social marketing (which includes all social sites including forums and youtube)

and backlinks to relevant sites (but that is mostly because of the article marketing)

However, in all these, I believe it is not in the what to do, but the how to do it.

Thanks! I use facebook and twitter, but I have tried adding a lot of people interested in the muscle building niche but facebook keeps sending me messages that I am adding people that I do not know?

What would you suggest when it comes to using fb?

Hmmm, I've never had that problem.

The other people must be posting they don't know you.

However, the way to grow a friends list is to interact with others and add valuable posts so that people ask to become your friend.

"like" things and make good, appropriate comments to other's posts.

When you post things that get shared, liked and commented on, you friends list grows.

Also, if there are friends you have on facebook, ask them to recommend you to their friends.

Post appropriately on the walls of groups you belong to.

This may all sound time consuming, but I really don't think it has to be. I just keep fb and twitter and forums open on my computer and as I'm working along, go over and check them all out, and post a little here and there throughout the day.

I have 100 friend on facebook for my fitness site and over 1750 fb likes(fiverr gig-so computer generated to add a bit more credibility). I have asked people to recommend it, but I do not get that many friends that way.

I actually add a lot of videos and pictures on my wall underneath I add something like " Get FREE Instant FREE Access to Muscle Building E-course here:///// !".People like the pictures and videos a lot,but they do not bring me additional subscribers, which I find odd.

Also, how does commenting on people's posts help me get more subscribers, as they do not see my actual page and my url for the squeeze page?

This is NOT what I use to get friends.

But the other day I purchased this and it has worked pretty well so far for me on fan pages.

You might want to check it out and see if it can help you. (I am in no way affiliated with this. I just bought it and liked it.)

I do the things I told you to do before, liking, commenting, etc.

I post short information posts that aren't promotional many times throughout the day. I automated that part using this (again, not affiliate with this, got it free in the War Room, so you have to be a War Room member)

http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...-networks.html

I keep with the guideline I set for myself 90% helpful, informative or just humorous information and ONLY 10% promotional.

Even though I have that software to automate things a bit, I still go in and check my notices, respond, like and comment on my own because software can't do that.

However, this software updates 26 different social networks at once and you can even add more if you want. The set up of the social sites is what takes a long time, but I set up the software in a few minutes and just loaded facebook and twitter in there to begin with and got it started almost immediately.

However, even before using the software, I was getting pretty good conversions from facebook and twitter whenever I posted an offer. But I just don't post offers very often.

I think the bottom line on social networks is to interact and add value and not just promote. Just like on forums.

Easy.

Do some research on product launched. Find out who is hot right now and who is going to have a very profitable launch.

Once you do so, contact them. Tell them you will do something for them. Write there copy, do all customer service. Do all touch-ups. Deal with any aspect of the launch. As long as in some way shape or form they link back to your squeeze page. Maybe in the product or on the download page. Anything to get the sunscribers.

For building a prospects list: I can't believe no one's mentioned holding a VIP / private giveaway! Hands down, the quickest method of getting free subscribers in the shortest time, and you don't even need a gift to give away to your subs! If anyone doesn't know what these are or how to do them.. pm me

Other options... holding (or simply sponsoring) a JV giveaway.
Purchasing solo ads
Offering your gift as a bonus for other marketers to giveaway within their funnel (integration marketing)
Free WSO
Exit pop up on a sales page offering free gift
Advanced tactic... offer to run a big marketer's launch for them in return for getting the leads (usually through an exit pop to your gift) I know someone who gained 20,000 subscribers in 3 weeks by doing this!

For building a list of buyers:
Create product, offer 100% commission to affiliates... GO GO GO!
Launch a paid WSO, 100% commish to affiliates will help too

Hope these ideas have helped :-)

Phil

Theses are excellent answers TopKat, thank you. I really need to become a lot more methodical in my approach. And my two cents - go for solo ads and adswaps.

Why not do what social campaigns do: promise that if you do X now you can win an iPad, iPhone or something similar... and X would of course be opt in. Put it on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and just watch those subscribers come in droves then.

Do the math: getting 1,000 subscribers via solo ads will cost you more than the price of a new iPhone or iPad...

Rantrally pulled in over 1,000 users in 3 days by landing an interview on spanish tv channel Uniision. I'd work on crafting a unque story and then put it in front of as much media as you can over 30 days.

Yeah for me it would definitely have to be solo ads, this is something I am hitting very hard at the moment and it is by far the quickest way to build a targeted list.

I'd rather have a 100 person buyers list than a 1000 person prospect list.

Rob is right...
Peopel will sign up to you list and may pay attention to what you have to say
They may even like you and follow you BUT
They may ask you questions or take up your time WITH NO INTENTION of
ever buying anything ever.
It is prospecting at its best and yes its worthwhile but solo ads, wso, paid or unpaid traffic....You could just as easily ask them to buy with all the techniques mentioned above...separating buyers from non-buyers AND stil build a list.

Why would you not have THE best part of making money AND building a list at the same time.

All with the same amount of effort everyone has been talking about here.

Work on converting them into buyers on a product page.

If your product is solid and not junk they will be able to tell and develop a relationship with you as they move along you funnel.

Moving them along your funnel first...hoping they will buy later is kinda flimsy

You have to sell them sometime along the way anyway so train them to be buyers.

I'm willing to lend a helping hand.
I'm also looking for good JV partners.

I will get reseller software with an in built optin form. Then rebrand with some juicy keywords and then submit to software download site with one off payment of $70 or something. Then rinse and repeat with other related keyword every 2 days if you can. Then sit back and relax.

well obviously if you have the financial backing you would buy leads from someone who succeeds in that current niche, or go the facebook route for quick targeted cheap leads.. (can either interact with them on the fanpage and build a solid trustworthy relationship with them or send them to a custom iFrame landing page getting their email adys) plenty of ways realy?? I personally believe that building a big email list of subscribers is dead VS Facebook??

I actually did this a couple of months ago

I built 1012 new subscribers in the IM niche in just over a month and made plenty of money and gained lots of buyers while doing it

I used solo ads and created a wso around it showing how i did it

I was testing lots of different solo ads though so if i would of just used solo ads which were proven then i would of made a lot more money and gained many more buyers

it was a lot of work because i tracked everything but a lot of fun none the less

as long as you have a good sales funnel set up its easy to duplicate what i did

Interesting. That being the case the autoresponders will be selfhosted. What script would you be using? Thks

Paid subscription form placement.

I would approach sites that have a highly targeted audience in your industry and discuss with them their advertising options. Rather than discussing the placement of an image banner or text links, ask if you may include a subscription widget on a sidebar for a month. Make sure you have a clear advertising method so that visitors are not confused and don't think they're signing up for the newsletter or updates from the site itself.

Something like this:

Get Hot New Updates on
Cool Stuff from YourSite.com

[Subscription form here]

If the site is getting good traffic, you shouldn't have a problem generating 1k subscribers in 30 days.

The best way is to buy solo ads from reputable solo ad sellers. There quite a few of them on this forum. If you cherry pick the right ones, you can quickly build 1,000 QUALITY and RESPONSIVE subscribers, I would say in even less than 30 days.

Why don't you ask your friends to subscribe and then start doing solo ads, forum posting etc.?

Many options are discussed here which I tested and couldn't reach to 300 atleast.

Ad-swap, solo, free WSO, were some, which I tested.

Preparing for my first paid WSO to launch soon.

Can any body be a mentor for list building of 1000 within 30 days here?

Lots of interesting points here.

As mentioned above, for good quality I would go with solo ads, I run my offer to many solos each month and it converts at around 50%, I usually put a small back end OTO on it so its sometimes pays for itself anyway.

Getting 1000 should be fairly achievable this way.
