Ok, I saw this thread within this section about a Niche Site Duel but the links were all dead. So, lets do it again, but FOR REAL! Are you still doing this? Is anyone else? I would like to do this, but I am building up one business up before I venture into another. I hope that these duels become more frequent (think NaNoWriMo becoming all year for fiction writing with unofficial months popping up all over yonder) so that I could jump in at a more timely opportunity. Hope this gathers some traction. |

Yes it is! I started a few days late as this thread took time to be approved. I also wrote the first post where I began brainstorming ideas: Finding Niche Ideas – 5 ways to generate ideas | Venture To The Top Tomorrow I will discuss how I decide which niches to target and by mid week I will have purchased my domain. If you are in start documenting! |

I will definitely be following your progress... However, I won't be getting to the niche site business model until I have met my milestone goal in my current business model. It is nerve-wracking but following one course until it can be deemed a success is my big plan. Best wishes. |

Ok, have the second part of the niche site duel process: Validating niche ideas – How to check that your niche ideas are actually as good as you think they are. | Venture To The Top This lesson is about understanding the theory of picking successful niches and testing if your niche has demand. The next lesson will cover some basic characteristics of a good niche, to ensure you have covered all the right areas. After that it to site creation and niche mastery. |

Am I the only one interested in this experiment!! I got a little distracted but my domain was purchased - site was set up and first products have been listed. Some very slight back-linking has begun (no more then 10 back-links) - so anyone can still join in and be at roughly the same stage. I have been asked by pm to reveal my niche, but as we all know WF is full of good and bad warriors and revealing my niche would not be in my best interests due to the minority of idiots. After a month of backlinking, I will happily reveal the niche, but for now it will stay hidden. I rediscovered a site I made last year and totally forgot about (and did almost nothing with it). It was an amazon affiliate site built with just a very basic Thesis theme. It has less then 30 backlinks and only 6 product reviews. However that site made me $10 last years with zero effort. I also choose the niche using very poor research techniques - which I have vastly improved upon this year. Not amazing I know, but this was a site I totally neglected and one that has paid for itself. I mention this story simply to inspire some of you, and show you that even when I neglect my sites, they can still make money! If you have never tried an adsense/amazon affiliate site - come join me in this experiment!! |

I am interested to join in. I also have a site that was left behind. I really wanted to make it a working site. So where do we start?

So has anyone else started? My site is doing ok, and has about 3,000 hits a month. Nothing too special but getting there. I truly believe you can create a good niche site in under an hour a day. It will take a few months but it's very doable. I'm going to be starting a new niche site this week. In order to make it, I'm going to be getting up one hour earlier each day (I don't have time in my normal day). The plan will be to write 30 quality articles for the site over 2 months, and then seo optimise it, so it perhaps need little further work to bring in money. My aim is for it to make $50/month within 3 months. This will be a mix of affiliate sales and third party promotions. It's going to be somewhat of an authority site on a particular topic. I used the three lessons above to define the topic and to choose the site name. Todays task will be to setup hosting and to start searching for a good niche authority wordpress theme. If you know of one please shout! |

Ok hosting set up and using theme 'Generate' as I like the large text and layout. Next step is to write my first article. I aim to have this done by tomorrow. It will be a long article aimed at complete beginners with lots of pictures to help visualise the issue. (Will worry about beautifying the site later). I'll let you know how article writing goes - remember I have busy days so I'm waking up an hour earlier to work on this project. |

I read this post and thought it would be a fun little earner so i just set up a new site as a free online resource for affiliate marketers or people just looking for new ways to make money online. It's called AffiliateMarketIt.com. I run massive marketing campaigns on my bigger sites but i thought for this one i would try and set it up on the cheap, something any budding entrepreneur can do. Costs: Domain $7 1 yr Hosting $20 WP Free Solo Ads Free AdSense $75 voucher Free Backlinks Free Total Setup Time 48 hours inc. Aweber Integration. I will continue to build content on the site and through Autoresponders to the stage where it can just run on autopilot. Note: This was not designed as a source of income, it provides free tips, videos and product reviews from some of the best marketers out there and provides links to interesting articles and videos i've come across in my years of internet marketing. While it does contain so Aff links they are mainly to cover the cost of the site and anything extra is a little bonus. Indexed in 24 hours, first day traffic 100 Uniques. |
