I am livid, I have been with hostgator for YEARS. I have around SEVERAL hundred client sites with them on my re-seller account. I have contacted them over 6 times this last week for VERY slow sites. I am talking 6-10 seconds to load sites. I have never had this kind of problem. I am also now getting 500 errors. Instead of the host being helpful like they have in so many cases in the past. They tell me well you are on shared hosting. I have not moved to a dedicated server because I have never managed one and I do not want to jeopardize my clients.

My question: what has happened to hostgator? I have been with them since 2001!!
Also, what host do I go to?
If I transfer all my sites, what is the easiest way? Will I need to manually set all domains, create all databases and then install duplicated sites individually or is there another way?

I appreciate all help. I will only move to a reputable LONG standing hosting company.
My clients can not see their sites like this.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Even though I haven't used them - yet - I've heard great things about Veerotech.net. They are running a 50% off special that ends today. http://www.warriorforum.com/web-host...days-only.html

Stablehost.com is a provider that I can personally vouch for.

I heard Bluehost is pretty good and very inexpensive, but I've never held a domain for long enough to know for sure.

Bluehost is owned by the same parent company as HostGator so if HG let you down big time, it seems you may want to stay away from their siblings.

    hello momtraders,

    check out this site: https://webhostinggeeks.com/awards/

inmotion hosting stands out the most I believe. They have great support! Very prompt and thorough.

Regarding hostgator, get on the LIVE chat with them NOW to solve your problems. forget abt putting up a ticket. I've never had an issue with hostgator (slightly slow but ok) when I catch them on the LIVE chat. they sole my problems almost on the spot.

    cheers

Agreed. EIG is known to destroy the well reputed companies. All the major hosting brands are owned by EIG including bluehost, HG, iPage, fatcaw, bigrock etc. They usually put 800 to 1200 users on a server to maximize profit which is not acceptable number.

My recommendation move from HG as early as possible. I have been using & working with Web Hosting - LUN Host - reseller hosting, vps hosting, cpanel hosting and so far they are good.

Hostgator is owned by EIG since then having lots of issue as every year they add couple of companies as big as hostgator .. so support and servers will be slow, they own nearly 50 such hosting companies latest is site5 so stay away to avoid issues.

I would recommend Rshosting one of the oldest reseller hosting provider since 2002 and not owned by EIG.

Regarding data migration.. they are best just order package give them old provider details and they will do the migration free for you.

Good alternatives to hostgator are a2hosting.com and ewallhost.com.
They have plans which are full of useful resources and prices are competitive. Uptime is high and support is online for 24 hours.

What are quality web hosts? Well, those that are home to some of the well known and old websites and brands. Some web hosts that meet this criteria:

    Xmission.com/web_hosting

    Rackspace Hosting

    1&1 web hosting

    Automattic.com - run by people behind WordPress.com

    Hope this helps

Bluehost is also owned by EIG, so I would stay far away. Here is a list of EIG owned hosting companies and I would definitely recommend avoiding all of them!! https://www.reviewhell.com/blog/endu...p-eig-hosting/
