I doubt there are very few members here who can compare the two.

I have however been an annual member with Lynda.com for 3 years now, and it's one of my automatic memberships at nearly $400/year. I use it more than any other membership site I have ever been a part of.

    Very professional videos.
    Downloadable work files.
    Expert teachers with perfect diction.
Never NOT found anything I was looking for.

I have no idea about the other one. - VTC.

My exact thoughts. Lynda.com is absolutely amazing. It's my "go-to" site for learning anything I don't know. The teachers are awesome.

Yep.. Lynda.com is the king.. I mean Queen of online training. The tutors are supremely talented people in their fields, the quality of the vids are superb and the depth of topics on offer are staggering. The only downside is that I don't have enough time to go through so many subjects. I have never heard of VTC before.

OP VTC is a very old well established training company. Lynda can not be compared to them. Their focus is entirely different. The reason why you are hearing that Lynda is better is because most WF members have never done any programming and VTC focuses on a wide range of training whereas Lynda really is mostly an adobe product/web development trainer.

I have in fact used both. if you want to learn web design and development and adobe based products then Lynda is for you . If you have a much wider set of interests and want to learn across a variety of products and technology VTC has far more for you.

In actuality if you are looking at the monthly subscription then VTC is the better deal. You'll see that just looking at the wide array of training they have compared to Lynda. However if your interests are Adobe products and web development then Lynda is probably fine.

As you can see in this review

          http://photo-editing-software-review...ny-review.html

they are both highly rated at what they do its just that VTC has a lot more training but again it depends on what you are wanting to learn.

another excellent subscriptions is peachpit safari. Mostly online books (if you have that subscription you never have to but a tech book again

but also alot of video training.

  • It really depends on what topics you want to learn I would say they are both great options but if your wanting to learn/improve your design skills Lynda.com would have the best library. I also have a membership and I use it for a variety of different products I need to learn. They produce new trainings all the time. VTC is also very good they have more Microsoft and computer networking training I believe.

Lots of outdated information here. Lynda.com, as of today, has 319 subjects. And they're not all Adobe or web design.

I worked some Excel/EditPlus magic for 2 minutes and came up with this subject list that's current as of today.

No one said it was all adobe or web design. I said it was mostly. big difference

        Go to to lynda.com

Software training online-tutorials for Adobe, Microsoft, Apple & more

and put your mouse over software - You will see 555 results for Adobe. Lynda's root and expertise has always been in Adobe products. That has not changed. You could pull a subject count on WF and see programming. Doesn't mean this isn't mostly an Internet marketing forum

anyway they are both solid but for a real comparison of what I was talking about heres all of lyndas courses

        All Subjects | lynda.com

        Heres VTC

        All Courses Online

absolutely no doubt who covers more BUT again all depends on what you are looking to learn the most of. For example if you wanted to learn to program your own product Lynda would be a poor choice. If you wanted to learn dreamweaver and Photoshop integration I would definitely choose Lynda.

Both good. VTC is definitely no slouch to Lynda.

anyway thought I would chime in since I have in fact used both and will do so again. Just wanted to let the OP know that people not having heard of VTC at WF is no reflection on the company. They have been around a long long time and are well respected and cover a very wide array of subjects. Probably the widest of any online training company.
