Charlie Page's - Directory of Ezines (DOE)

Hey guys

I had someone approach me yesterday about taking a look at Charlie Pages' Directory of Ezines (DOE).

It appears what you get, and the benefits of DOE, look pretty good. But for $197, I obviously want to get some more word on if DOE is worth it for that price.

If any of you guys have any experience with DOE would love to hear your thoughts.

  • The $197 is a starting point with the DOE - you will then have access to the 'database' of ezines broken across niches and will have to then deal with costs for mailing out to those lists.

    It's a good offering IMO. No regrets in spending the money there. It's worked out better for me than Facebook PPC and any other type of Social Networking traffic.

    • That is good insight. Thank you! I was wondering what costs there were after the initial $ to access DOE
      I also tried Facebook PPC, Twitter etc. and did not get anywhere. The ads were target, laser focused also.

  • I've been a member of DOE for about a year now and it's diffently well worth $197. There is so much ore to it than just the ezine directory. Charlie showers his members with all sorts of freebies and training as well.

  • Just thought you might be interested to know that after reading the DOE sales letter I had a question. I e-mailed support and I quote "to make absolutely sure you get the right answer Charlie will respond personally". Later that day i received an e-mail from Charlie with the exact information I needed. I was impressed with the response time and the straight forward answer I got from Charlie.

  • i believe DOE members get solo ad discounts of up to 50 percent off. but that's just for some of the ezines in the directory. some offer no discount and others 10-20 percent. but if you plan on doing solo ads for any length of time then the discounts will add up. i am not a member, but i am on charlie's email list.

  • DOE members get great discounts at hundreds of ezines. One of my favorite benefits is you have access to several PLR/MRR products you can use/give away/or sell depending on the product.

    DOE is a great place to research Ezines you might be interested in advertising in.

    All and all I would give DOE a two thumbs up.

    • Charlie charges $500/hr for a personal consultation. Yet as a member you get 15 minutes of free consultation whenever the schedule is free. I've benefited from it greatly. He's even referred me to some people in offline companies.

      This is truly one of the best buys I've bought online. If it were $497 I would still feel like it's a bargain.

      Seriously, there's alot you can get for that $197. Plus the guy's been online for like 12 years so he's no fly by nighter! I also like the fact that alot of credible people (some runing Inc 500 and Inc 5000 companies) know and respect Charlie Page.

      Isn't it great when your stuff is so good your customers help to "sell" it for you? lol.....

  • OK I got it. Charlie Page is the real deal. But my question is unanswered yet: are there Ezines in a variety of niches or just IM and MMO? What about Self Help/ personal Development?

    • The Ezines are in a variety of niches not just IM - IM is only a small selection available.

      Solo Ads - I had run a couple of campaigns and they bombed pretty badly, but figured that it was the quality of those lists.

    • I am a DOE member and have been for about a year.

      I am also in the Self Help/ personal Development niche and yes it is covered very well in the ezine directory.

      In my opinion the DOE is a good deal and worth the investment...if you are definately going to use it....and much of the value is due to Charlie himself.

      Personally I have found him to be very helpful and full of good advice on my calls to him (all members have access to private calls for advice or site reviews etc)

      So personally I give it the thumbs up :-)
  • I have been a member of DOE for well over 10 years. I think its a great resource. Recommended regardless of the niche you are in
  • I would also recommend DOE, having been a member for 6 months now. You get a lot of training on top of access to the best Ezines on the net. You can even book a time to speak to Charlie himself.

  • Plain and simple, that's is a great investment, if you're interested in ezine marketing all the research is organized for you. The organization is a real time saver, and is worth the investment.

  • Thanks for this thread now i got the idea about DOE. I was wondering is DOE gonna be worth the money, Seems likely i'll join DOE since im still working to building my own list. Should be really helpful to have DOE for my ezine advertising journey.

  • Running Solo ads is an artform, just like landing pages and etc. The key to the DOE is that you can find a niche group to advertise to that is very targeted. Whether your ad is successful of course depends on a lot of variables.

    Charlie is more than willing to help with your solo and other ads and there are few better at copywriting and hitting the target. The stuff he throws in for signing up is worth the cost.

    And you don't have to advertise, many of the ezines take articles too. There are a number of ways to take advantage of the database of ezines from research to marketing.

    Like any other purchase, you can't just buy it and then stick on your hard drive. You need to use it to get all the benefits. And Charlie will back you up 100%. Can't ask for more than that.

    • I've used the DOE over the last 5 years for solo mailings in the opportunity marketplace, and it's a tool that's worth it if you use it in a strategic business building sense.

      I've researched most of the available resource within that niche within the DOE and the honest truth, at least as far as my personal tests are concerned, is 90% of the newsletters there will not be profitable, but 10% will be break even or better and where the true value for the DOE lies for us is, in finding those 10% and then negotiating up long term advertising campaigns with them - which takes time and marketing capital to run enough appropriate tests to find your diamonds in the rough.

      Now it is a clear time saver vs. searching via Google or Bing for appropriate newsletters.

      The one the thing about the DOE that may not be the best news is the online newsletter marketplace seems to be shrinking. 5 years ago there were far more viable newsletters to mail than there are now within the DOE and there has only been slight changes in terms of updates for new lists (at least in the opportunities marketplace).

      The newsletter business model isn't as attractive as it once was. Many of the sites in the DOE grew there lists 5 to 10 years ago via free search traffic when growing those lists in that manner was easier than it is today. The problem is, those same sites aren't really growing their subscriber bases anymore, but are still selling ads, so the lists have grown old and unresponsive in large, but . . .

      As I said before there are some good contacts to be found and made if you're looking long term, but don't expect your first or second or third add to hit it out of the park.

  • Most definitely you are right, right, right, da3gan! Using vast resources of DOE to just shoot out clickbank offers sort of seems to me like having one niche blog and focusing only on Adsense. Not very wise to not maximize your income streams and diversity.

    I started out in IM very recently, only about last May, and didn't start seriously learning and absorbing AND implementing things the right way probably until a few months ago, and that's due in good part to wise people like you with good advice.

    My ultimate plan for DOE is to:
    1. Dive in and learn about all the other great stuff you have access to
    2. Utilize it very soon when I finish my OWN ebook and capture even more revnue to build my own list
    3. Explore diversifying my income even more with other good marketing

    All in all, I think this is something that has a lot of potential, like you said, if you approach it right. Thank you!

  • I too have personally experienced interaction with Charlie himself. I believe he is an honest marketer who truly cares about his members, and I also agree that the $197 is well worth what he offers. Within hours of emailing him with a question, he personally responded to my email. I felt like I was talking to an old friend. He also gives his members a free once a week coaching call where you can ask him or talk to him about anything. He honestly wants you to succeed. The bottom line IMO, is that he is a great person and he wants to see all of his members do well and get the most out of their membership.

    Also, there is a wealth of information that he offers his members on his site, as well as the huge ezine directory. If you can spare the $197 investment you will not be sorry

    • No offense, but my brother in law is a nice guy too, but he can't teach me anything about IM.

      I did go on and join the DOE, and I'm not too impressed right now. I have browsed some of the "active" ezines, and found about 30% of them to be invalid websites when you try to visit them, meaning the ezine is not active anymore.

      I have also contacted about 10 ezines about questions, and have not heard back from any yet. I am going to give it another day or so, but I'm just not seeing the huge value that the rest of you say this place has. I'm not giving up, because I can see the potential, but I think that some updating could be done, for sure.

  • I got an offer to join DOE from Vick's 48 hour cash machine
    about 2 months ago.

    Since than I've been on the fence of joining, but not because of the price,
    but because of the actual "realistic" value.

    Yeah, ok. Charlie claims to have hundreds or thousands of ezines
    accross all niches. But I need only IM niche, so my interest is less
    broad than many's.

    And as I've been scrolling down this page, reading through comments,
    there were no specifics stated as for: I ran an ad in a newsletter for X days
    for X dollars and got X results (sales, subscribers etc)

    And reading the last reply before me, really confirmed what I was afraid of.

    Outdated lists. Seemingly build up the value but very few of them even exist
    or are responsive.

    So, my decision is not to invest in Charlie's membership...

  • No one - I mean No one has even hinted about how much money they have made using this system. Has anyone made any? Charlie sounds like a real nice guy, but real nice guys don't feed the family. Come on now - honesty please - Anyone out there made money with DOE's system yet?
  • I think, from reading the replies already entered, that the value of joining DOE, is not so much the sales you make, but the ability to build your list. Also, the contact with Charlie himself. No one seems to be making any money with the system and claim that it is outdated. I therefore think that I will not join DOE, but am going to try and send an email directly to Charlie (even though I'm not a member) and see what happens. Wish me luck
  • The only thing that has prevented me from purchasing is I do not know what niches and how many ezines per niche. Other threads had posted the categories but I want to know specifics. for example: I know there is a category for Sports, but how many Golf ezines are in DOE, I have the same question for many other niches. It would not be hard and it would probably be a sales booster to list the individual niches and how many ezines per niche.
