The Best Social Networking Script.

I want to start a social networking site similar to Facebook and i am looking for the best script and i have the following after making some research;
Social engine
Kootali
Ning.
Can you recommend the best for me.

    If you don't like programming or designing then i would suggest social engine because it is social network software that helps you build your own customized community websites. Start simple, or go feature-rich with plugins

      I am seriously thinking of social engine but the problem i have with it is the price coupled with the plugins you still need to spend money on.

    I used to use PHPFox in the past. I'm not sure if it exists anymore.

    Buddypress looks like a good option. Plus, it's free (made by Wordpress).

      I dont really know if the Buddypress has the capacity to sustain less say upto 100,000 subscribers.

            I didn't ever used boonex.....but I had the thought that has alot of features similar to facebook.

            Elgg and boonex has great communities and support, so you can start with the basics and later you can expand the cappabilities of the software

    I'm not sure anything out there could handle 100,000 active users. You would almost certainly need a custom solution once you get to that stage.

    It turns out PHPFox.com does still exist.

    phpFox has been around a long time and is the best IMO. I bought it and it is really a dynamite script. Has a template also that looks very much like Facebook but others that don't.

    I just bought Dolphin from Boonex and can say that it has a TON of features, plus comes with a mobile app for your site included! Not to mention alot of extensions that are basically similar to WP plugins.

    You should check out and try Social engine. It let's you create your own and personalized site which is very good for working environment. It's easy to use and has less hustle. It's also very handy and will make your work easier. Try using it and see for yourself.

    Boonex, phpFox, SocialEngine are all good, although phpFox has horrible support from the company. Luckily, the 3rd party vendors are solid in their forums. Check into the others before giving phpFox a try, just in case.

    All wonderful suggestions. I've also been making research on these and this post has been helpful. Although, I'm yet to settle for one as social engine, phpfox and dolphin seem to dominate the pack. I love social engine's features but the price isn't welcoming. I'm also taking a close look at blueboxphp and jchow. I just hope I end up with the better option.

    I have used PHPfox. It has some bugs which was not solved by last 2 years, I had informed the phpfox team about the issue. They was unable to solve this.
