Instagram will expand hidden likes globally
Instagram announced in a tweet that they are expanding their test of hiding like counts worldwide.
They didn't provide additional metrics or details supporting their test, however Instagram chief Adam Mosseri noted that hiding likes is designed to "depressurise Instagram for young people".
Hiding likes to ease the pressure off young people is a little vague, isn't it? On the other hand, users measure their self-worth and validity through the number of people liking on their posts.
I'd like to just see the option to either show or hide like counts, like an on/off toggle on the Account Privacy settings page. That way, users are given more control over their profile.
