Twitter data shows gaming is emerging

Hate it or love it, but gaming is a game-changer (pun intended) on modern culture. With a $196 billion marketing by 2022, it's no longer a subculture or a hobby.

Now Twitter recently released data which talks about the gaming conversation on the eponymous platform, and summarised as:

"In 2019 we had over 1.2 billion Tweets about video games, and now in 2020, the gaming conversation on Twitter is bigger than ever. In fact, in the second half of March, we've seen a 71% increase in conversation volume and a 38% increase in unique authors compared to the first half of the month. In the US alone, there has been an 89% spike in conversation with a 50% increase in unique authors over the same time period."

And it's obvious - because people are mostly at home, there is a massive surge in gaming. Twitter also shared the most tweeted games on the platform:



The gaming realm has massive opportunities for any marketers - partnerships, in-game ads, in-game events, among others.
