Accurate Search Statistics?

I was checking out websitegrader.com & I noticed the discrepancy between it's keyword Search per month statistics and Google's Adwords statistics.

Now I think I'd believe WSG more than google. Cus it would make "sense" for them to pad the stats... right?

Is there anywhere else I can go for keyword search statistics?

To be real honest with you, most sites have to get approximate search traffic from only 2-3 sources so you are pretty much left high and dry to get accurate results without....

    a. Getting listed as #1 and then figuring out an approximate figure based on your ranking

    OR

    b. Building a PPC campaign for the keyword and figuring out approximately how much traffic is coming from the keyword....

All the rest is hypothetical and "average". I have seen google over estimate its average and have run into keywords that were understated.

Google's KW Tool is designed for Adwords advertisers. That means it includes the search network as well as Google.com searches. It is accurate for Adwords, not accurate for Google-only organic search. I have a formula which I use and teach my students to derive more useful search volumes from Google's KW Tool. You can find my formula in this forum by searching for the keyword "GTEF".
