60 hrs and 500k per year just because id get really bored if I only worked 20 hours

If I had a family I would work 60 hours but I take care of myself so 20 hours a week making that much a year is good with me.

I'd take 20/150k. In general I keep my living costs down so I can have more free time.

150K per year? That's not realistic for 80%+ of the world's population

So yeah i would take that and only work 20 hours per week, who can get bored???

It's actually a very tricky question. As someone that's worked extremely long hours, like 80+/week, I can say that the money isn't worth it like I expected.

If this question would have been asked 6 months ago, I would say that 60 hours a week sounds great, since it was less than what I was working.

Now... money is just one part of life, and working yourself to death to get it just doesn't make sense. I'd much rather have 20 hours for 150k than 60 for 500k.

60 hour/week to earn 500k a year would be my choice because I want to be one of the kind.

Ooh, 60 hours for over $500k, "of course" - no contest.

That's an investment, and enables you to put large amounts of money aside into income-producing assets and therefore effectively to increase your earning-rate, in future.

Being a workaholic, the income I generate rarely influences how many hours a week I spend working; the trick, for those less inclined to plonk down for hours on end at their desk, is to outsource. I'm a huge fan of professional staff. I couldn't manage without their help, in fact.

60 hours per week for about 10 years for 500K, then 20 hour weeks for 150K per year after that with plenty of money in the bank!

I think anyone's answer here will depend where they are, in their life, when they are posed with the question.

I'm still fairly young, but, back when I was 18, this would have been a no-brainer (60hrs/500k/yr).

With age, though, I think people come to place alot of value in TIME.

There comes a point where you aren't willing to trade time for money.

Right now, I'd have to says 20hrs week/150k/year.

We might be out of reach of the toys of the UBER wealthy, but, 150K/year/20hrs week would be more than I would need to live comfortably, and ensure a huge amount of time with my wife and son.

I will go for 60hrs wk. and earning $500K yr for first year. Then start multiple businesses that give $500K/Yr with 20 hours of work.

This is an easy one.... Say it costs $50k / year to live where you are. House, car, food, mid tier basics, but not extravagant.

If I can make 500k / year for 60 hours a week, I will do that for 5 years, pay my taxes , take the 250/yr left and use 50 to live and dump 200k off in an index fund (because it's liquid and I can tap some if I need to).

5 year s later... I have $1m socked away. Averaging 8% a year on index return, I can then stop working and have 80k / year w/o rolling out of bed.

But the price of admission is the 5 years of 60 hour weeks.

Alternatively, I make the 150, pay 75k in taxes, spend 50 to live, and 5 years later I have 125k to show for it. Granted, I can expect 10k a year in investment income on that 125k, but that's no where near enough to buy my freedom.

It depends on age, ambition, value of time vs value of money. A wise man once said... never trade time for money. You can always make more money... but you can never make more time.

When young, I'd opt for the $ 500k option, work and bank as much as possible, and then after 10 or 15 years, I'd cut back and live on the $ 150k and my investment income... a sort of semi-retirement which would give freedom to live the rest of life the way you want.

This is a no brainer, most working class persons work a 60 hours work week, so definitely a 60 hour work week for $500K would easily be the better option.

It really depends on if I love what I do for work - because I don't actually view my online business as work, I love doing it - it's fun.

So it really depends on if you love what you do.

At the same time you have got to have a balance - so many people rush to get to that millionaire status and when or if they finally arrive there, they realize it is no different. It's about the journey, it's about the person you BECOME along the journey.

I would rather work 20 hours a week and make $150k a year. I like having freedom to enjoy my time and money. I would probably use the extra time on my hands to start a business that will bring yearly income past $500k.

If I decided to go with the $500k a year and work 60 hours a week, I would probably do that for 2-5 years and save 250k a year and then quit my job and use the money I have saved up to launch some form of online or offline business that won't require me to work 60 hours a week to maintain. Or I might invest in a franchise.

I would work 60 hours a week. I love my weekends, so I would need to be off Saturday and Sunday. Money doesn't matter as much to me, so I would take less and still work 60 hours a week.

Neither. I would hire a VA and have him/her work 60 hours a week. And with the profits I'd invest in more VA's.

Then after about 20 years of building up a massive bank roll, I would retire and live off of the interest, dividends, and whatever other payments I receive from the various investments I made with the $2.5 - $4 million I used from the savings I built up from living below my means.

For me, IM isn't my passion. The whole purpose for pursuing IM was to provide myself the financial stability and time to pursue my true passion. For me, working a 9-5 job didn't allow me the required time to pursue my dreams which is why I turned to IM.

Life isn't about work. It's about creating the opportunity to live your dreams.

I would go with 20 hours and 500k yearly. Initially if I make 150k yearly, I would invest a portion of it in outsourcing and scaling whatever is working for me or investing in something else till I am making 500k. I would still be working the same 20 hours as before or even less as I might say goodbye to my job.

I need money to pay my employees, feed my family and fund my expensive hobbies (mountaineering is one of them). I don't want to be the Sultan of Brunei and sacrifice my peace and other intangible stuff just to earn more money.

I don't need "more". "Enough " is enough for me.

No doubt I would take the time instead of the huge money payoff. 20 hours for me with a very nice payout is what I'm taking.

The question is somewhat flawed as it assumes someone making $500k on 60hrs will make about 1/3 the money on about 1/3 the work. This does not take into consideration that the big money online is concentrated towards the longer working hour group (where you work both smarter and harder at the same time). So if someone is making $150k/yr on 20hrs/wk (which would mean they are elite at what they do), they will probably make far more than $500k on 60hrs/wk.


In any event, to answer the question I would take $500k on 60hrs/wk. If there is an opportunity, milk it while you can. Nothing is forever online.

60 Hours a week at 500k. It's a 350k difference. What you do with it is completely up to you. With an extra 350k a year you could easily streamline the process and work very little, if at all and make the same amount.

I'm young and my main focus right now is building my online stream of income so yeah 60 hours a week for $500k is definitely my choice!

Where I live in California, the cost of living is very high, and $150k (while it sounds like a lot to many people) isn't really all that much here. Pretty much a nice middle-class income, but certainly not enough to be considered rich, or even well-off. In addition to the cost of living being what it is, I'm also under the gun to save up enough for my retirement, pay off my student loans, and save for my son's college savings account (have you seen how much a 4-year college costs these days?).

So I would definitely work as many hours as I could to make as much as I could, for as long as I could. I have worked 60 hours/week in the past for far less than 150k, so if I could translate 60 hours/week into 500k, I would do it in a heartbeat without thinking twice about it.

I'd go for the $150,000 as I value the time more, We already have our own property and overheads are low out here in Thailand. I think the only downer to this is that it would feel a bit like working a day job - a set 20 hours a week, a set wage etc. One of the joys of working online is that I can chose to work 60 hours a week or 2 hours a week and earnings are always scalable - I'd miss that freedom to work more / less or scale things up.

20hours - any time. I'd never get bored because I have way too many hobbies. I have been able to travel to 20 countries so far because of Internet Marketing so I know what to do with extra time

At the same time, I've managed to blur the lines between work and play.

You might catch up with me out deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
That would look like I'm playing, BUT I'd probably be fishing with a
local offline client, or a JV partner, and while fishing... we are talking
business and making deals. The fishing trip is a tax-deductible business
meeting.

While out fishing, I'd catch a ton of fish, which my family and friends
would later eat. So, I'm really fish, feeding my family, and doing business
all in one.

I actually have managed to blur the lines that much, so a 60 hour
work-week is no big inconvenience for me.

Before you think how lucky I am to live such a lifestyle, be advised that
I'm 55 years old, and it took me most of those 55 years to reach my
current level of success!

Another question that we all have to ask ourselves at some point is, "How
much money do I really need to be happy,secure, and to consider myself

My answer, for fun, in a single word: CONTROL.

I've worked with, for and around several multimillionaires (even wrote a little report on them).

Only met ONE in last 50 years who "hated" his business, Harvey Brody.

Harvey went to work one day to his successful publishing business and an employee gave him a lot of grief, he made a decision on the spot to eliminate all headaches (employees) from his business. And, for the last 30 years, he has not had any employees and understands some headaches come with every business.

Most of these rich men didn't count hours at work. Counted money as a score card as much as anything. They had personal satisfaction and created the TIME to do what they wanted, but, like Willie Crawford, combined work with pleasure so it was "always" business. When Donald Trump plays golf, he might be making million dollar deals. Sweet.

What most of the rich men (self made businessmen) I've been around want, more than money, more than time is

CONTROL over their business, which equates to Control over their lives.

Also, almost all of them had a Control Position, referred to as a TOLL POSITION, of their product or service or kept a very close eye on it.

When one lives in a world without clocks, without measurement or comparison but with passion, love and gratitude...

one learns, money can always be made...TIME marches on, no matter what you do.

PS. Oh, the rest of the Harvey Brody story. So, after shutting down his publishing, he works a few hours a day, from his home office, mostly phone and fax, and runs an International business which does millions per year.

He has plenty of FREE time, but his thoughts are at the ready to switch to a business mode on-demand. I choose that method, without regard to hours or money.
