I don't have any prior experience in IM. I've just been reading posts on this forum for over a year now. I've sent messages to some forum members asking for clarification on certain topics. There are only a few members that really stand out to me - Alexa Smith is someone I will continue to follow as she has a very refreshing approach and has contributed a lot of original content in her areas of expertise. It's not always easy for a newbie to weed out the genuine Internet marketers when there are thousands of inexperienced marketers trying to pitch something they haven't even tried or tested themselves. I probably wouldn't be wrong in saying that a few have been successful in taking this approach - something I just can't do myself.

My idea of an online business does not entail messaging forum members with an affiliate link as it does not require any real knowledge to do so. I could take that path myself but it doesn't feel right. Many of the "get rich" affiliate programs seem like scams to me and unfortunately I do not have the financial means to fall prey to them.

I've been advised to look into product creation in the IM niche - but how can one do that if they don't have any prior knowledge? Which leads me to believe that there is an overwhelming amount of duplicate content floating around online. I've also observed forum members commenting on each others WSO's for returned favours. Maybe I'm just being too skeptical, who knows, but that's the general feeling I get when observing certain members here.

I have purchased some WSO's that are loaded with affiliate links for auto responders and squeeze page sites. Do these IM's even have their own lists, or do they focus on selling get rich methods on this forum?

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this post, other than the fact that I'm unsure of how to proceed from here. I live on a small island where unemployment is extremely high and feel desperate and weary at the same time. I was living and working in Canada as a call centre agent but had to move back home to take care of family. I'm no different than the next guy/girl looking to earn money online, but I'm really hoping that someone somewhere can point me in the "right" direction.

I found the warrior forum a year ago by doing a google search on "how to make money online" which led me to a website of an internet marketer who recommended duplicating content and paying people on fiverr to record false testimonials. He had sent me a link to this forum in one of his newsletters.

I'm not really good at writing, as English is not my first language, therefore I don't feel confident enough to write content, at least not without someone proof reading my stuff first. I'm not a very confident person in general which is probably holding me back even more. I would just like to promote a genuine product that actually helps people. I'm not sure what that is or how to go about it, which is why I need some help. Obviously my main objective is to earn a living without misleading people. Please someone, somewhere enlighten me.

Your first step is to break down your post into paragraphs. The more readable it is, the more replies you will get.

I agree all the way here!!

My eyes got a bit annoyed half way this post.

You should EDIT this and make the thread more readable. That way it will be a lot easier to reply to you with the best answer possible!

If English is not your native language, then I take my hat off to you .. Your English is excellent .. better than a lot of native English speakers... just break up what you are writing into paragraphs and you will have no problem in creating a product or articles in your given niche ..once you find it that is.

You have already identified probably one of the best people to follow in Alexa Smith and I would urge you to seek out more of her posts. There is a wealth of information within the warrior forum from Alexa alone .... study it and put some of it into action... have confidence.

ElGuapo has already given my first suggestion.

I would refrain from messaging forum members. Your best bet is to simply read the free areas of WF, getting an overview of the various business models and elements, and then later on target your decision to take action by isolating models that appear to work and you feel you can pull off. At that stage, put together a good business plan and take action.

I think you have a mindset problem to solved before you dig into IM. You obviously don't trust the process of selling online - you've mentioned in the past looking for something to do where you don't "have to sell".

Internet marketing is "marketing" and that is "selling". You may sell ideas or information or methods or products - or simply sell the idea that YOU can be believed. Whatever path in IM you choose - it comes down to providing (selling) things people WANT to buy or NEED to use.

As a new marketer who admits not knowing what to do next - you will be a target for those who sell to "newbies". That's how it is and all you have to do is evaluate each "great idea or offer" someone proposes.

"Coaching" is often listed as an idea but if you don't know what you want to do - how do you choose a coach to help you do it? Good coaching is not free and to be useful, coaching need to be focused on the method of IM you have chosen to pursue. In the past you chose CPA to avoid selling....yet that method has it's own concerns and in my opinion isn't the best method to choose if you don't have money to spend.

I suggest you start by making your own list of various methods of working online - affiliate marketing, product creation (I agree with you that a bit of experience is best before you jump into that - but keep it in mind), freelancing of some sort, etc.

List what you see as the pros and cons of each method - identify some people on this forum who appear to be well versed in each of the methods you listed and read their posts. Ask focused questions when you get stuck.

Also, there are SO many excellent blogs and sites online offering free advice and tutorials on various IM methods - use Google to find some of those and learn from them.

Look for what YOU can do rather than focusing on what you don't like about what others do. Then look for people doing what YOU want to do going forward and learn from them.

I have purchased some WSO's that are loaded with affiliate links for auto responders and squeeze page sites. Do these IM's even have their own lists, or do they focus on selling get rich methods on this forum?
Some have their own lists, others are building their own lists (here), many focus on MMO here (money making offer) because so often that is what new IMers tend to buy. Avoid WSOs promising $$$ in days/weeks/hours and focus on tutorials that teach you how to do something for yourself.

Let's be straight here. Don't think about it too much. You need to build a business. Like you said it's not by messaging people on the forum. Build your list with high quality subs and eventually yes you should make your own product. That's all, get a squeeze page an autoresponder and if you need help feel free to DM me I'd be happy to help you.

Then try different traffic sources, work on your copy and follow up emails, etc. you're goin to grow your skills as you grow your business so just get started building your list!

With this attitude if you think you can't. guess what you already have a limiting belief that you can't . you limit yourself already. That is the worst way to start in this industry. Those that say 'this doesn't work' and 'this won't ever work for me' typically it doesn't because people come into this industry with this mentality.

People like myself and others know what to do, how to do it, and do it correctly...

wether that is promoting other peoples products or launching your own products.

The problem these days is that EVERYONE has a product to launch and think they will make $1,432,426,666,433.55 in a day (exaggeration), and NO ONE builds up the relationships you need to even make your product launch successful.

Its starts with the mindset. If you come in thinking it won't work, like I said you are already 10 steps behind.

    What i suggest is this:

Have a goal, long term, short term, weekly, bi-weekly, daily, etc.

Hit those goals. Make them small. You can even have 30 goals and hit 18 of them guess what.... you may think "i didn't complete all my goals" and you get depressed but someone who is successful looks at it like this "i got more than half my goals done today!"... see the difference. 18/30 for daily goals is a HELL OF A LOT depending on your goals.

Goals will give you the motivation to continue. Even if its talking with one person every day, someone new on Facebook and trying to connect with them.

Something simple, you need to start on the ground floor, don't worry about getting your product created before you even have anything else set up.

    Just my 2 cents

I think you are too skeptical. You want to pursue an industry of 'marketing, promotion and sales'. But who will buy from you if you don't trust anyone?

Mindset and money beliefs can and will hold you back unless you start doing something. Read and read more until you start releasing some subconscious 'blocks' that hold us back.

Then you will start seeing real opportunities that are more fitting for you.

Seriously, English is my first language, and you probably speak it better than me. Props for that.

As a beginner, it really is tough to decide a path to take. But the more you do things, the more clear they become to you. The first thing you need to do is BELIEVE in yourself. Take something and make it work. Milk it for all it's got. As soon as you think about doing something else (before what you're working on is profitable) don't. That's my best advice I can give you.

There's no clear cut way to success, it's a process that you have to trust in. Good luck!

First of all, you are way to hard on yourself. I'm sure you have more talents and potential than you realize.

Like yourself, when I first started I spent about a year on this forum just trying to learn all I could. Although there is a wealth of information on this forum, it can also be detrimental to your progress. As mentioned before, there is always someone promising that you will make some outrageous amount of money if you buy and follow their system.

Find something in IM that you can be passionate about. Then find a Warrior or two that you can trust based on their track record. Learn from them and FOCUS just on one thing at a time, not allowing yourself to get sidetracked by all the other "shiny objects". Then, most importantly,TAKE ACTION! Taking action is the single most important thing that must be done. Do not worry about being perfect before this step. It's better to take action early and learn from a few mistakes than to sit idle.

I got started by using what I learned here to help out someone for free. That opened doors for me. Not only is this person now a paying customer, he has referred others to me as well.

IM is not a synonym for Make Money Online, internet marketing is a method of marketing a particular product or service. Sometimes people get this mixed up because they read a lot of things online where it seems all anybody talks about is making money online.

You can market just about anything online and I think perhaps a reasonable step would be to decide what you are interested in and see if there is a market in that area. By market I mean, both people who like to buy things things to sell, and a reasonably priced way to reach those people.

Avoiding hot potato products and methods, where the only way someone makes money is by selling something to somebody else quickly before nobody wants it anymore, would be a good play on your part. Since you've been looking around the WSO section, you may have seen some things like this. There are plenty of excellent products and sellers in the WSO marketplace, but it takes some trying things out before you find them.

To make things a bit messy, let me confess....English is not my first language as well. I'm just hoping this reply is readable to others.

Just one simple question that might be your answer for the moment........

Have you considered selling services rather than selling products as a starter? I know quality services do help people and the payout is not that bad too!

This might get you the seed money you need to invest in for the quality helpful products that will eventually help people. Also you'll get the money to live by, not a bad option.

Expertise in MS Word could be sold for higher values. Just improvise till you find something worthy of selling.

    Hope this helps.

I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. I started IM several years ago and took on several courses and one member site. I took in way to much information at once and was feeling overwhelmed. I tried following all the courses as best as I could but I yielded no sales. This destroyed my confidence (I didn't have much to begin with) and made me even more skeptical than ever before.

My motivation was gone. So I took a hiatus from it all. I have just recently returned in the past few months to give it another go. Skepticism is still there but that may be a good thing because we all know there are a lot of people out there looking to take your money and run.

After doing my 'due diligence' I have found a couple of coaches who I believe are honest people. I did a great deal more investigating this time around and I am already starting to understand where I went wrong the first time. I am now learning valuable information for my business that does not include all the black-hat methods I had previously learned.

Trust in the valuable information from these posts when they say find one thing and stick to it. Do not overwhelm yourself as I did. Find something you enjoy and won't just do it for the money. Then find a course or coach that will help you reach your goals for your business (most good courses have a, no questions asked, money back guarantee, in case it is not what you were looking for), and stick to that information and apply it. Then maybe you will go through some trial and error and eventually you will sort it out.

I wish you the best of luck in your path!

I gave you some of my opinion above and now that I have had some time to think about it, if I needed to make money now, for my family, I would first seek out a job. I know that you are in a place where unemployment is high. Sometimes we need to relocate and go to where the work is.

I don't know the extremity of your situation so only you can decide on what is best for you and your family right now.

You can always come back to IM at a later point in time.

    And one last thing...

The only way to learn how to do this stuff, is by one thing...

    "Doing".

First of all let me tell you that your English skills are pretty good. That brings me to suggest you to start learning a thing or two about content creation and then finally start writing for money.

Ther are a lot of good sources where you can pick up the tricks of the trade from and this forum is definitely one of then. Once you've leraned a few things start writing for money. There are websites where you can write for money. They won't make you rich but would help you create a portfolio.

Once you have a decent number of writeups to your credit create a site around your writing services and start approching product owners. Once you start writing you will realize that there are some niches that make you more happy than others. Target websites and companies in those niches and offer content.

Not eveyone in IM earns the same way. Content writing can be very lucrative if you do it right.

All of that ONLY if you are interested in making money from content writing.

If providing writing services doesn't interest you much, you can get into product creation or affiliate marketing.

In both case you'll have to master the traffic systems first. That's the most important part in IM. Be prepared to spend hours learning different traffic systems such as search traffic, paid traffic, solo ads and eventualy list building etc.

The traffic source you'd want to use would depend completely on your niche, your budget and end goal. It's probabbly the biggest topic in IM and it'll take you a lot of time to understand just a few systems.

I personally prefer to work on the marketing part even before creating the product. So, that's my approach and I'm happy with it. Other people may have other approaches.

The nest thing is creating the product itself. Of course you'd have to freeze on a niche before you start figuring out any of this. Having said that, the mantra to success lies in problem solving.

Find problems in your niche and offer solutions. The idea is to genuinly help people. There are two basic ways of doing that - you can offer free help and the sheer quality of your free advice would entice your list to buy your paid solutions or you can offer consultaion for a fee.

It all depends on your niche, the problem you are solving and most important of all your reputation as an advisor (product seller).

So, if you get into product creation you'll have to work on creating a solid reputation for yourself too.

This approach will teach you a lot, but you'll have to be prepared to spend time or money or both to put things in order.

The last option is to hire a coach or buy packaged business that come with instructions on how to run them and make money (not trying to promote myself here). This will save you time and help you earn faster (provided the service is legit), but it's going to cost you some money - a good amount of money actually. However, if the service good, you should be able to make back the money spent pretty quickly.

    Thanks and best of luck.
