New EU VAT Rules - Game Changer?

All digital product sellers that sell to the EU using an automated service now have to register for VAT (Value Added Tax) and track the location of the buyer, charge local VAT rates to them (Up to 27% on a simple ebook!) and submit tax returns.

You can find out more by Googling EU VAT if you want

It is a ridiculous new law set to crush all the micro-businesses that can't afford to add that kind of infrastructure to their payment systems (It is costing me a fortune getting a system made for my clients just to track payments the right way).

Wondering how the warriors on here are going to handle it?

After finding out about this today, a quick google search turned up a handful of solutions, such as Taxamo - 2015 EU Vat Changes for B2C - EU Vat Compliance Solution.

From what I am seeing, their pricing structure is very interesting. You only pay per transaction so implementation fees are close to none.

As for the added tax up to 27%... well, that`s buyer`s burden at that point. I can definitely see it impacting the bottom line of many merchants who had a huge sales volume from EU countries, but all business has to adapt to survive... whoever sits too long on their ass is bound to fall behind whenever the bureau-rats figure out they`re leaving money on the table.

It`s time to innovate or die.
